Because I am in Maine right now I was wondering what anyone has heard about hurricane Sandy as far as affecting the Villages. Sounds like it could be quite the storm.

No worries at all. We have a 50% chance of rain today and 20% tomorrow with slight winds. The storm is about 250 miles east of the coast so we won't be affected much at all. You, on the other hand, better keep an eye on the national weather service.

We are in Vermont ; they are showing it OFF THE COAST OF FLORIDA with high surf at the atlantic coast.

However, our local Vermont daily newspaper as well as our t.v. and radio is warning all Vermonters for a "possible repeat" of what happened last August and last October..........first being IRENE the hurricane that devastated Vermont and the Schoharie Valley of New York state with flooding, destroyed bridges and roads, etc., saw homes, barns, horses and cows floating down rivers....................plus the October snow and ice storm that knocked out power in Connecticut and Massachusetts, etc., etc. for a week or more........

We had taken off from Albany Airport in N.Y. to fly to Orlando last October with snow cover on the ground; the pilot had to de ice the wings twice before takeoff............but it wasn't until a day or so later that we began to hear from people in THE VILLAGES about their families back home in Connecticut, and New England still without power, etc.......

I hope it goes out to sea...........but that would be like the Perfect Storm when that fishing boat sank in 1991?????

Up here a major cold front is supposed to meet up with the hurricane.
New Jersey will be affected as well as Vermont and other states........

My guess is TV will be safe and sound............unless something changes.

senior citizen - we just returned from denmark, maine [oxford county] and am now in n.j. and just one mile inland from the ocean!

when you post 'new jersey will be affected' that should read AFFECTED! weather service is referring to the impending havoc as frankenstorm! looks to be a nor'easter with hurricane force winds meets major cold front with winds passing thru from the west! oy! thought about goin' back up to the house in maine - but hubs is gonna do his emergency mgmt volunteer stuff instead!

oh well! been through it before - and i've got lots of yarn for crocheting! i can always appreciate a good storm to make me stay home and do crafts!

Down here in So. Fl. it is basically just a nasty day - some wind, some rain.
Storm is moving up and out of here.

My concern is for the people up north - I have a son and many friends on Long Island.

A tropical storm + a winter storm + a cold front certainly isn't good.
If you have lived "up there" you have been through weather like this.

Hopefully Sandy will somehow turn east and not bother anyone !

Here in CT, rain predictions for just rain Monday and Tuesday with winds of 24mph and 39 mph, (possibly over 50 mph).

Don't expect it to be anything major.

STAY SAFE. Your area has been hit very often recently. I remember south Jersey being without power several times ..............

Is Denmark near Norway Maine? We stopped there once when visiting the tourmaline shop. Probably also passed it when enroute to Bar Harbor from Vermont's route 2.........towards Bangor, etc.....

We saw them sandbagging the Jersey shore on the news this morning....

Based on the hysterical rantings of the various television weather nit-wits you're likely to have more trouble in Maine than the folks in central Florida. Here in Baltimore I suspect we'll be in the dark for days since BG&E loses control of the power whenever minor T-Storms come along let alone the consequences when anything of any real importance comes through.

Have been here in TV for a month and am scheduled to drive back to Vermont at the beginning of the week. I'm thinking we're going to have to postpone that for a couple of days!

Here in the eastern PA/NJ shore area, they're really talking shelters, etc. Just heard the mayor of Philly warn residents to prepare. They predict major flooding not just at shore points, but even in the city from the rivers cresting.

Played golf today. Warm and windy. No rain.

Well, it was a very windy day on the golf course. Our ladies' group played Heron starting at noon. The moss on trees was blowing off them here and there, some branches were blown from trees, and the wind really did impact the flight of the ball........but the sun was out, the temps were nice and the ladies were wonderful to be with. The closer to the coast, the more wind one will experience. The birds were even having a tough time! On the way home, Saw a bald eagle at hole 1or 2 of Mallory, "dining" on something. Tried to get a pic, but he was quite a distance from the cart path on Morse and my phone really didn't provide a good picture. Too windy to fly off with lunch!

Weather person - the job where you can be wrong every day and still keep.

It's all about the ratings they get. That's why they portray everyhthing as much worse than it might be. I hope their worng this time too.
