Agree with Photo1902 - why shouldn't anyone be able to post whatever they want on their golf cart? Understand that overnight parking, etc. is another issue. I personally don't want tow trucks running around The Villages. Be careful what you ask for!!

Damn! There goes my marketing plan for my golf cart. I hope I can get a refund on the air dancer I rented for the event.

You can post whatever you want on your golf cart.
But you can't leave it overnight on District property, especially in handicapped parking!

It seems to me the intent here is to keep folks from leaving their carts in district owned/controlled parking lots for extended periods of time for the purpose of selling them. I have seen such unofficial used car lots pop up on vacant lots in a few towns. Eventually the owner/authorities crack down.

Yep. Abuse by a few leads to a rule that everyone must follow.

I don't see this as a big deal. Simply remove your for sale sign if you end up parking in a parking lot. Then put it back on when you drive away. Parked on the street, not under the new rule.

Next you will have to only have certain colored cars or you will not be able to drive it in side the bubble.

I asked the question->
I have one additional question. Does this rule apply to the public roads around/inside the three town centers?

And the reply from Customer Service ->
Yes, it would apply to those areas as well.

With that in mind, I would say don’t even think about using “For sale” signs on carts or vehicles except on your own property and of course outside of The Villages. As was mentioned, classified ads on a web site can be used as a good alternative.

Skip to the bottom line. How often would this happen?

We bought our first cart used, through an ad. We traded in an electric cart to The Villages Cart business. That is nearly ten years of us owning two carts. I am pretty sure we are typical.

People get their knickers in a hitch over things that rarely happen, like the national bathroom debacle.

Now that I know this is a rule, not trying to sell a vehicle at the public parking lot, I will handle it just like I have all other rules, I will abide by it.

I will concentrate on worrying about finding a cure for cancer and why people aren't saving money anymore.

Good post Gracie! Oh, and people don't save money because they don't pay themselves first.

How can the developer or "the district" control the posting of signs on cars and carts driving or parked on public thoroughfares?

Are you sure about this?

Most likely because the "District" is a quasi governmental agency which receives certain rights and powers via the FL Legislature. The most recent of these, beginning July 1st, empowers the District with the ability to ticket and/or tow I believe.

Here is a story regarding the new powers:

Again, this is what I received -->

Yes, it would apply to those areas as well.
