Default Cart path blocked?

We were visiting TV last week and wonder why the golf cart path is blocked at Morse and Lake Sumpter Landing. The path exists but carts are not allowed to use it. Carts are forced to go through the Sweet Bay parking lot and out on the street which seems rather dangerous. It's been that way for the last couple of years we have visited. Seems like there are a lot of near misses and cart accidents because of this.
Why did they build a path that seems to be a much safer route and then block carts from using it?
Just wondering.

Actually, I think the current design is safer. Before, you had to cross two lanes of car traffic to continue on Morse near Sweetbay area to the bridge over Lake Sumter. The cars coming in to LSL from Morse come around that bend very fast. It was a dangerous crossover.

With the current design, carts have their own turn lane to go North on Morse and only have to cross one car lane.

It's not perfect, but, it seems to work.

Sometimes people confuse the pole in the middle of the path that says NO CARS ALLOWED and they think they are seeing No carts allowed...could that be it. I might be thinking of the wrong area...

No, it's not one of the poles that says "no cars" although I can see where people could read that wrong at first. The poles block carts from using that part of the path by Sweet Bay.

That is the new route they put in place a couple of years ago because they feel it is safer. I liked the original route, but it now a thing of the past. They also blocked the entrance into the parking lot behind Bravo's pizza.

It is safer but confusing for some. Would hope that the pavement would be removed in the future.

Much safer going thru Sweetbay except for the Lady I met in a red Honda Accord coming at me on the cart path just as I came thru the tunnel under Morse. She said "I'm not supposed to be here am I?"

Something scarier is Colony Blvd crossing near Colony Rec.

It would not be nearly as scary if people observed the 20 MPH speed limit. There needs to be speed bumps on the streets to make people slow down.

I do not think we need speed bumps there. Its posted pretty low speed now. Not sure why people think its so scary there. You have stop signs on both cart sides. If you are turning everyone is going the same way, car traffic is just left or right. Please no speed bumps. No problem there................

still used by bike riders and pedestrians, I'm sure they wouldn't like that.

there should have been a tunnel at that spot when they first built the area. It is SO dangerous to cross traffic in a golf cart anywhere near a round-about. Cars have enough trouble with them.
