Pat, ask the Arch. Review Board what you'd like to do or consider, and they give it a yea or nay.
I like our frame home, I think it's simpler to maintain. |

Cbs
When we started looking we only looked at CBS homes. It may sound silly but I thought of the big bad wolf story. I like my CBS home and don't think cracking will be much of a problem at all. Just a personal issue. To each their own.

Sounds to me like the concern about the cracking is not an issue. I'm not seeing many people that have had or even knew of the problem. I have been leaning towards cbs because of the big bad wolf theory.

Son insisted on CBS
Our son is a Florida Nat'l Guardsman currently in Iraq and he insisted we buy only CBS. His reasoning was based on flying over Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana in a Blackhawk helicopter after hurricanes and tornadoes where CBS homes were still standing...maybe not much else besides walls; but was better than frame homes that were completely gone!

Not too far from me in Sunset Pointe an owner is just now nearing completion of a massive "rebuild" of his original frame/siding home, by removing the siding, replacing it with what I'd guess is really "faux" concrete, complete with corner "blocks!" An amazing re-do (and a great deal inside as well).
Point being, he may have decided he liked the "sturdier" feature of CBS. Mine is CBS. The blocks were filled with insulating foam, so I feel pretty isolated from the elements. And, while not on a thru street nor with noisy neighbors, so a low level of noise, I certainly don't hear much of anything! SWR
