Ditto about Verizon in Hadley. I've personally gone into Verizon and politely complained about the service and they act like they've never heard this before. We're going to have to switch after 12 years with Verizon.

I have an AT&T phone (work) and an IPAD with 4G (Verizon) and had no problems south of 466A with either. I believe you will find dead spots no matter which carrier you use.

We have ATT for our Iphones and barely get 3 bars here in our neck of the woods in Sanibel. We have dropped calls and intermittent transmission at times. Our neighbor across the street stands in her doorway to make phone calls. Elsewhere in TV north of 466a we have no problems. That is why I insisted we have a landline! I wonder if we get newer Iphones with 4G it will remedy the situation? Ours are 3G and our 2 year contract just expired.

The newer 4G iPhone will definitely help. We live in Charlotte, both have iPhone 4S phones and have absolutely no issues. When we rented in Duval and Buttonwood we had to practically stand on our heads to receive calls. AT&T did put in new towers in September, but they are 4G so the 3G phones might not receive the signal. Good luck.

Maybe YOU should think before you ask a question.... Your question was about CELL PHONE service south of 466A. I think that's the responses you received.

Lightbulb Probable

I believe that AT&T did complete a couple of new towers in the south area but I think there is still an open area far south in The Villages and doubt there is a plan to fill this gap real soon? Best to go to the AT&T store on 441 get the number/email address for the VP responsponsible for The Villages and send him an email requesting information...!!

I had Verizon in Ohio and it was great. I agree that we have had terrible problems with reception here in Hadley with Verizon. Switched to ATT and had dropped calls and only 2 tiny bars. Picked up a Microcell booster and now have 5 bars all the time. Occasionally have dropped calls but much better than before.

If you are with Verizon this may help. On you cell phone dial *228 and use option 2 when asked and update your phone. Be sure and do this when you are at home so the update will be for that area.

I hope this will help I was told that you should do this every couple of months.

We live in Hemingway, have Verizon, and have terrible reception with numerous dropped calls. After numerous calls and emails to Verizon, I finally, got them to send me a cell phone extender, or booster, that connects to my DSL, and is supposed to improve your service tremendously. Verizon wanted to charge me $99, but after constant calls and emails, I was able to get the booster at no charge. Verizon told me that I was located in a "non-preferred" area, which meant we were in between coverage of their towers. I have not tried the booster since we are still up north, but know that others who have used the extender, has had good success. Maybe, you should start complaining more to your provider.
Good luck

Our ATT&T phones are doing just fine in Fernandina, south of 466A. So far, I haven't noticed any areas with low signal strength. Of course, I rarely check while actually driving. <smile>
