They showed up at 4 Pm and came in to check it out. The guy was nice said he was sorry but didn't get the text until 2:30 to come by. The one problem was they had turned my service off instead of someone else with an account number a few digits off. The problem with the syncing and pixilation is a line problem. He worked until 7:30 and found the problem the lines have been spliced in many spots and with the cold and wet they are getting bleed off. He said they lay the lines before construction starts and by the time the contractors and landscapers get done there is a lot of damage. I thought that the signal originated from a satellite dish and the problem was weather related but apparently they are a special type of phone line it is just that they are very damaged. So tomorrow they are coming back to lay a new line down the block. If it is dry when they hook it up the signal loss doesn't show up.
So if you have bad Tv reception when it is cold and rainy then it may be the same problem. The Tech says the service people on the phone are clueless they always tell people it is the box because they don't know any better and they don't want it out there that the original install may have been the problem

This is why we would never have Century Link. My husband has a big CPA firm in Leesburg and he says they're always having issues so he didn't want it here. We've never ever had any problems with Comcast unless we need to call them for something...then it's not so great.
When Comcast came out with all those boxes a year or so ago we decided the heck with it and canceled all our coverage on the TV...lo and behold we were pleasantly surprised to find we had all the major channels, Ion and some other channels without paying a dime. So now we only have Comcast for Internet and either watch ABC, NBC, CBS or use Amazon Prime for thousands of movies and TV shows. Spent some time watching The Brady Bunch and Gilligan's Island shows recently and no commercials!!! And best of all...NO BILL! |

Did that before I called. Tech said that many people in the villages have less than optimal signal strength and if the guy who comes doesn't use a gadget that tests the signal and if it is cutting out then he is being lazy.

No, we just have a new flat screen we bought about a year ago. We live in Amelia. I remember saying to my husband that I longed for the good ol' days when we could just turn the TV on and get the regular channels without having a cable bill and that's exactly what happened when we ditched Comcast. Who knew? Before that we just had a basic plan but it kept going up and with all the new equipment needed for each TV we said the heck with it. If you have Wi-Fi in the house then you have access to literally thousands of shows and movies including all the oldies via Amazon Prime or Net Flix (which we got rid of).

When I say major channels I'm saying ABC, NBC and CBS along with ION and a few others. We don't get all the sports and Fox and CNN channels although I'm thinking we might be able to access them thru Amazon Prime but unsure. I don't watch a lot of TV.

So what is connected to your set that allows you to receive ABC, NBC, and CBS or are you streaming it from the internet?

No...the deal is if you have internet thru Comcast you get the 8-10 channels free. So the TV is connected thru the regular cable but we're not billed. We live stream Amazon Prime which cost $79 a year but we get free Amazon 2 Day Shipping covered. We order a ton of stuff so it's a really good deal. So we watch all these movies on our big screen TV. No difference than putting in a DVD except it's right off Prime.
We woke up that next day after canceling our Comcast TV (but kept internet) and thought we'd have "snow" on the TV and was very excited. Our internet is only $40 a month because we called and complained when they were going higher so they gave us a deal. We just keep calling every six months or so when they raise it asking for the current special. I think Century Link has them running scared. Good for us. |

Not being LAZY...NOT DOING HIS JOB!!! Make sure he checks signal strength. I have never installed PRISM but know that we had loop quality limits and they should be checked. Retiree, Good Luck, I love Prism down here.
