Ones like, "golf cart crashes into a palm tree and the driver is too drunk to get out of the vehicle".
.......A couple of days ago there was a story written by a bicycle rider that said a speeding and out of control golf cart cut him off and he flew over the handlebars and cut his knees. Also, it was a hit and run. I can just imagine that the Golf Cart had its speed settings tampered with.
........The only answer is for Police to make spot checks of suspiciously fast Golf Carts and issue HUGE tickets.
..........Some people may want to "poo-poo" THIS entire situation and NOT be able to RELATE to the injured bicyclist because they are always riding in an automobile or a Golf Cart. But, younger retirees want to enjoy the exercise and freedom of their bike rides. And more and MORE people are buying E-bikes in our age group.
.........It IS the RESPONSIBILITY of The Village owner / managers to PROMOTE safety through their POLICE FORCE. The idea of faster and faster Golf Carts is NOTE "cute". It is DANGEROUS !!!!!!!
There are plenty of EVs that are driven by drunk drivers. Why assume it's only "Gas Carts"?

And this supposed "high center of gravity" causes drunks to crash into palm trees?

Many EVs have lifted suspensions, resulting in a "high center of gravity". Add to that, they have a faster acceleration. Why are they not a problem?

The poster of which you speak, and I ,had a lengthy back and forth on this difference. Even he agreed eventually that this statistic may well reflect the likelihood that "slow" drivers are driving slowly because they are aged and recognize that they don't see so well, their reflexes aren't what they used to be etc. etc.

The study also stated that while they may be involved in more accidents, it did not study the severity of accidents, and the relationship between severity and speed.
I never mentioned any "study"...

"Left lane Louies" (and people who intentionally slow down when someone comes up "on their @ss") are just as likely to be younger drivers as they are to be older drivers. Passive aggression has no age requirements...

Maybe the problem IS the limited resources. 10 Policemen would cost less that ONE high priced Corporate lawyer.

Such naivety. Spoken like someone who has no clue how public service sectors work and are funded. You need a civics lesson if you don't get how resources are allocated within a city's budget and how many of the city's departments are competing for those limited funds. TV is not as rich as you want to believe and you forget that Wilwood services much more than just The Villages. So as much as you want the Wildwood PD to focus on non-conforming golf carts, I am sure that most of the other folks in Wildwood, especially those not in The Villages, would prefer they focus on more important things.

WONDERFUL !!!! Just pour the INSULTS on me. I don't CARE about Wildwood in particular or THEIR Police department. I was referring to The Villages Police. I would NOT care if the Community Services people gave out tickets for ALTERED top speed equipment. I just want SOMEBODY (some official somebody) to get behind the idea of a uniform TOP SPEED for the TV Land golf carts.
.......Residents of TV have a LEGITIMATE need for SAFETY. Officials of TV need to provide the budget and the details for that SAFETY. Safety is the main goal of ALL government units from Federal to State and LOCAL. Safety can NOT be EXCLUDED from ANY local budget. If TV Land can ENFORCE building codes for SAFETY, then, for SAFETY they can enforce golf cart speed controls. We had a recent incident of a bicyclist being seriously hurt by a negligent operation of a golf cart driver. The bicyclist has to share the multi use paths with golf carts going NORMAL speeds and the souped up fools.
........By being TV residents, they PAY for SAFETY and in this case, they are NOT receiving SAFETY. Personally, if I had a vote on whether to add more Police to enforce ALL SAFETY issues or constantly replacing flowers on the roundabouts. Or constantly having broken gates because they can't make the warning signs big enough or bright enough. Or having INSANELY tall Christmas trees just dripping with decoration MONEY.
..........I wonder, could there be MONEY taken out of the square entertainment budget. What about the MONEY for the POLO grounds, which myself and thousands of other Village RESIDENTS would NEVER set foot in. And could we do WITHOUT EVEN ONE golf course for 20 POLICEPERSONS. I know how I would vote! And now you ALL DO TOO !!!!!!!

TV doesn't have it's OWN Police Department... So you SHOULD care about Wildwood, Marion and Lake COUNTY police DEPARTMENTS, since THEY are the ones who provide your perceived PROTECTION...

Random CAPITALIZATION won't change that FACT...

The random CAPITALIZAATION and LACK of civics KNOWLEDGE is a sure REMINDER of those MEMES of young college PEOPLE who are OUT protesting by SCREAMING at the TOP of their lungs and SHAKING their signs at PEOPLE who are just trying TO GO about their DAY peacefully.

Serious question here:

Why would someone post such strongly held thoughts/opinions/beliefs and then delete them all? I just went through to find the original post that others have quoted in their own replies, and the OP (of the posts, not the thread) apparently removed them. I went through all 7 pages of the thread twice and could not find that person's posts. Did the system hide them or am I missing something here?

No idea... Who was the poster? (I don't see any posts that have been deleted. You usually will see something like ///, because you cannot delete your entire post, only the admins can do that...)

He is quoted in:

Post #65 by Topspinmo;
Post #72 by M2inOR;
Post #'s 82, 92, 93, and 100 by JMintzer, and;
Post #'s 86 and 97 by cjrjck.

However, going through all 7 pages of the thread do not reveal ANY posts by jimjamuser.

IT SHOULD BE NOTED: Posts that are missing from the thread (completely removed) are post #'s 42, 45, 58, 59, 88, 89, 96, and 99.

Perhaps people can remove their entire posts - or else he had moderator assistance in doing so.

You can still access the posts that are now missing entirely by going to his page and clicking on "Find all posts by jimjamuser" and they are listed there after all the recent EV thread posts.

Very interesting.
