Default Charlotte Booms

Did anyone around Charlotte hear the booming noises last night? At first I thought they might be fireworks, but they went from 8 until well after midnight. Could these be the same noises those in Pinellas heard a while back?

Could it have been gun owners testing their weapons; usually done on New Year's Eve?

Yes, my husband and I heard it also (we live in Charlotte, too). The thought of gun owners just shooting into the darkness of night is a little scary to think about.

It was fireworks, I'm sure! Heard them in Amelia! The Villages doesn't do them...my thought was Fruitland Park or Leesburg.

Although there are IDIOTS who would shoot firearms in the air - judging from the sound I doubt they were guns. I believe they were fireworks.

Yes, I am in Charlotte also.

Wow, that's an impressive fireworks display - over 4 hours long! The OP stated "they went from 8 until well after midnight."

Yes, I am in Charlotte also.

I concur. It did not sound like gunfire at all.

I doubt that the same folks were shooting ALL that time. It sounded "scattered" in locations to me. At midnight, it sounded close such as in our neighborhood a street or two over. Also could hear some in the distance as well.
