Default Whats happening?

I have been reading posts the past couple of days, I'm noticing a change in posts. Seems people are being nice and respectful to each other. Not sure...... Nothing funny or edgy. I'm not spending the same amount of time on the forum that I used to.....hmmmmm! Not sure....if I like it. Need action along with feel good and information. Maybe we need a seat saver or poop thread to get it going.

Maybe being reprimanded has finally sunk in.

I will try to be bad (er), Pammy.

ALso... Tell Doug we were so looking forward to seeing Vinyl Recall Saturday at Tierra de Sol and then got unexpected company. So much happens here in The Villages when you have other plans. Usually nice things, but we wanted to see you all perform. Next time is May 11th?

Be careful what you wish for. At one time it was nasty on here. I for one am very pleased with the current activity as this is better as an information source than as a place to fight and bicker.

Maybe someone who knows how to do this sort of thing should start an alternate TOTV site for those who want to take the gloves off. Maybe call it TOTV RUMBLE?

Or...Anonymous jabbing at America's Friendliest Retirement Community.

I think the worst jabs are by people who NEVER give us a clue to their identity or their agenda. For instance, I think that a lot of people who don't like the developer represent businesses in competition or sit on the other side of the political aisle from him or don't like how succesful he is.

There is a lot of class envy. There is a lot of anger having nothing to do with what happens on this forum, some folks are bitterly unhappy about life in general and perhaps need medical help. There are those who sadly cannot arrange life to be able to move here and they feel left out and sad. There are those whose relationships are not rewarding or whose children are in trouble and those who have failed to meet the dreams they had for themselves. There are those who have had a long and awful string of luck and those of us who are happy all of the time are angry making to them.

I try really hard to understand what makes people tick and sometimes I am annoyingly happy. I can only say that I have not always been and I have paid my dues.

Let's all try to put the things that divide us behind us. We can't agree on politics or on philosophy but we can agree that there are fewer years ahead of us than behind us and that we have been dropped here in The Villages for the remaining years of our life. We are old (er) people and we have strong ideas. We want to defend them and make others agree. That isn't going to happen. Just zero in on a wrinkle or a bent back or keep in mind that Alzheimers could strike us tomorrow, or a wayward golf cart and we would no longer be here.

People who are the most unlovable often need our love the most.

End of sermon.

What do I know?

The monikers 'Grumpy' & 'Ornery' had to originate from somewhere. Betcha even their families don't want to listen to them anymore.

I think a lot of people just like to preach on this site. Many forget the people they are posting with are the same age or even older.Sometimes its like they are talking towards their grandkids............

I think labeling anyone who doesn't think everything is perfect here, or saying it is driven by a difference in politics, as having some kind of "envy"...is an insult to the intelligence of reasonable folks.

The inverse of that is saying those who only see rainbows and unicorns, must be in the developers pocket...or only do so because they share his political views.

Neither is correct.

Some of us who are smart enough to recognize the good with the bad, actually have it pretty darn good too.... and are far from envious.

The biggest criticism I would have of this site (which, all in all...is pretty darn good )....is that certain forum bullies are allowed to try and dominate others who don't share their views.

I would hope we are all adults by now (questionable in some cases...I know ) and can have disagreements, without accusations of some kind of hidden agenda.

As to anonymity, this is the internet fer cripes sake.

Anyone can read this site and there are some real fruitcakes in the world.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to me that those who keep wanting to know the real identity of others (especially those they disagree with)...are the exact types that are prone to make trouble in real life for those they don't like.

"Edgy" enough PammyJ?
