Default Sanibel Captiva Rec. Center

What are the popular "inside" activities or meetings at Sanibel's Captiva Rec. Center, south of 466A?

Captiva, just like all the other recreation centers, has a wide variety of clubs and activities open to anyone living in The Villages, not just Sanibel. Look in the recreation news (available through thevillagesdailysun.com web site) to find the activities you want to join. You'll find yourself going all over The Villages for your favorite activities. Remember, you have access to every recreation center and every activity once you live here. Have fun.

Yes, I know that all Villagers can use all the rec. centers. That's the beauty of the TV lifestyle! Everybody enjoying everything there, incl. 40 golf courses.

But I'm just curious about Sanibel's Captiva, specifically, since we'll be very close to that facility when we soon move to TV.

As bosoxfan mentioned, the rec centers schedules are available online. Here is a direct link http://www.thevillagesdailysun.com/a...es/recnews.pdf. Captiva is on page 24.

The neighborhood rec centers can be reserved for clubs and groups who meet on a regular basis. When we lived close to Odell we had a group of neighbors who had a potluck gathering once a month sometimes with board games after, cards, entertainment etc. The important thing is that it MUST be used by people with ID cards only or there is a fee for using it.

The recreational director would schedule Bingo evenings with ice cream sundaes served at the break for a ridiculously low fee and would sometimes have a catered dinner for residents which quickly filled up. We had an exercise class there early morning twice a week..Walk off the pounds to a tape and it was filled with a line WAITING at high season. There were games scheduled by the rec director such as 'The newlywed game" and other group games and card groups frequently met there.

As someone stated all rec centers just like all pools belong to all residents and people will come from the other side of town to enjoy what is happening at any of them.

Kathy - The second Tuesday of each month there is a women's group meeting called "Let's Be Social." Each month we enjoy a different card game/activity. We are a great bunch of ladies from different villages who always have a good time.

Looking forward to seeing you there.

Kathy from Sanibel

If you are a card player (CANASTA) we play every Wednesday moring at 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Mostly ladies, but everyone welcome at Captiva Recreation Center. There are a number of neighborhood Sanibel groups that hold various group functions at Captiva. Read the notice board at the Sanibel pool and make the contacts. Some dances, some with entertainment and get together pot-luck dinners. Sign up for Pickle ball or tennis

That is the 2nd MONDAY!! It is a fun group and a good way to get started meeting people. Send me a PM and I will put you on the email list for reminders. When are you coming?
Another activity at captiva is Walk Away the Pounds. It meets M-W-F- at 8. It can be pretty crowded now, but will have more space starting in April.
Also a card group meets on Friday afternoon. 12-3 WELCOME!
