Default Chitty Chatty

Since the weather has cooled, we are opening our sliding doors more often. But there seems to be a musty smell that congregates in the house. I don't notice the smell outside but when we come back into the house, the smell is overwhelming. Does anyone else have this problem? We moved down here from the Cleveland area to enjoy the outside life all year. Can anyone suggest the reason or a cure?

Ohio here too, Cincinnati, but a full time Villager now. If you are still a seasonal resident it could be mold somewhere. I send you all of the answers on Bing. And a poster called O.B.B. doesn't like it when I do that, so don't tell her.

Snowbirds return home to musty smell in home. - Bing

P.S. Your home is very new, but even if it wasn't, you will be amazed at the answers the women in Warranty know about just about anything. Ask THEM...............

Could be caused by humidity. If inside house is cool and outside is hot and humid, when you open the doors the hot humid air rushes in. This humid air can cause condensation on the colder surfaces inside the house until temps equalize. Not good.

Suggest turning off ac and let temp inside home rise before leaving doors open.

Hope this helps

Not disputing your hypothesis, but if this is the cause, wouldn’t the problem be common?
