Default Christmas Parade

I just returned from The Villages Christmas Parade at the Polo Grounds. It was great! There were lots of Villages social and interest group clubs represented with Christmas decorated golf carts and cars. I cannot even guess how many spectators were lined up in their golf carts but it was definitely in the thousands.

Did anyone else go and find it as enjoyable as I did?

It was our first Villages Christmas parade and we had a wonderful time! I loved all of the "Merry Christmas" and "Happy Holiday" wishes we received from the parade participants. So much fun! I want to do it again!

And thanks to the volunteers.
Weather was perfect, not too hot, no rain but shady.
Definitely puts you in the spirit!

Shucks, I forgot all about it, as I was too busy running errands for house projects. I am less than two miles form the Polo Grounds too!!

I need to learn to come up for a breath of air, once in a while.

Hope everyone had a great time!!!

We thought it started at 10 am so I got there at 8:30 for a spot.We were not the only ones to be there. We waited 3 1/2 hours.Where are the times set for these events? I went to district.gov and they said 10 am.Is there a secret place where you can find out about The Villages events? Other than that we had a great time with good cart neighbors.Nice parade, had lots of fun.

2013 Christmas Parade

The 2013 Christmas Parade will be held on Saturday, December 14th at the Villages Polo Fields. The gates will open at 10:00am for spectators and the parade will be at 12:00 noon. We ask that golf carts cross over Buena Vista Blvd. via the roadway at the Southern Trace intersection rather than using the golf cart tunnel. Sumter County Sheriff’s Office will be on location to monitor and assist with traffic control. We also stress the importance of safety and ask that all spectators in attendance adhere to all safety measures that event personnel have established. This event is free and open to the public. Make it a great day and bring your friends and family and enjoy all the fun and excitement the parade has to offer. Please refer to the Daily Sun as the parade nears for further information. If you have any questions please call Lisa Parkyn at 753-1716. We hope to see you there!

I arrived at the Polo Grounds about 10:15 in my golf cart; got a prime spot; scoped out the other decorated carts and people; and then when the parade was over, I got out of the Polo Grounds in 7 minutes - according to Mrs. Buggy and her magic watch, and back home 7 minutes after that!

Yes, I read the Thursday insert of the Daily Sun for the starting time and the opening time.

When in doubt - follow instructions.

Is there a video recording of the Christmas parade on a Village web page for those of us who could not attend?
