Maybe the younger newer Villages are more discriminating.

Who knows?...but you were happy so that's all that matters.
I'm another one that's more than happy with the Southern Lifestyles furniture we bought just before they closed.
Of course, I had to give up an afternoon of whittlin' and banjo playin' to mosey on over to the store...
I even put on some shoes to go there... just like those slick big city folks do.

I am somewhat an experienced shopper and have furnished a number of homes over time. PLUS I am known in my family as frugal, some call me tight.

When we first moved here we went in and looked around and I thought that they had a lot of high end stuff and was kind of turned off as we were furnishing a second home and I wanted reasonable but good.

But I read this Forum where folks were saying that they had more reasonable lines (This was before they opened the second store that showed less expensive furniture). So we took the style numbers and price of the Broyhill bedroom furniture that we wanted and they gave us a better price and offered a loaner until the set came in. (We didn't take them up on the loaner, but it was nice of them to offer) We then purchased several things from them and found them reasonable and helpful too. They had availability of all lines known to me from Bassett, through Thomasville and Drexel Heritage and Tommy Bahama and Lexington and I cannot think of the name of our dining room table but it is very nice. They had every line of furniture known to me available if not on site.

I was extremely satisfied with Southern Lifestyles as were many who shopped there. (Who aren't dummies)

Loved them. The furniture quality was exceeded only by their customer service.

The morning of our closing they delivered and set up furniture and backed out of our home with a vacuum cleaner! Who does that?

When we came back from closing, all we needed to do was put the bed linens on! They were wonderful.

Glad we got a chance to experience them.

Can someone please explain (moderator?) why active threads disappear seemingly indiscriminately?

For example, I posted on this thread less than 2 hours ago, got back on, and thread is gone! I had to resurrect it thru search.

This happens all the time.

What is the criteria for a thread to fall off when others stay on?

I'm not talking about threads that are mean spirited, political or controversial.

Why bother to post at all?

I'm not being sarcastic. Just would like to know how the policy works. Please don't drop this thread until someone in the know responds. Thanks.

When you come back, are you selecting New Posts? If you are, I think it only shows new posts since your last visit. If there have been no new posts on a particular thread, it won't show up. That's why I select Today's Posts from the Quick Links menu. It will show all current threads whether they have new posts or not.

If that's not what you're doing, I'm not sure why the thread is disappearing on you.

Hope this helps.

My bad. That's exactly what I've been doing. Thanks for the explanation. I stand corrected.

We had a very bad experience with CF and it was unbelievable. Mostly incompetent and grossly deceptive. NO Way for sure.

When you find someone selling preowned furniture from southern lifestyle it doesn't last long before it's sold . City furniture not so much. Although bought our dining room table and buffet from city. We have used the same sales person since they opened. All three times furniture delivered, the guys were polite, looked over the items with us, then we spoke to their boss to verify the item were perfect. Guess it's who you deal with.

To me it seems that people that shopped there in earler years were more satisfied than recent years. Did the company sell, out or change philosophies conerning customer service or product quality?

I just purchased again from Bargains and Treasures, this time it was a tall narrow hutch in which to display my mother's wedding China. I've had time to look everywhere and compare vendors, BTW, Graciegirl, did the maid deliver your sweetie's libation to his bedside?

We received a call at 6.30 pm yesterday as promised. Our delivery window is between 1 & 4 pm today. Without having to say anything the delivery coordinator let me know that our concerns about used or damaged furniture had been transferred to him so he could personally make sure things go smoothly. I want my TOTV diploma back RickeyD, stay tuned. So far so good.

Our first two houses had southern lifestyle furniture. Miss them. How do you get in touch with them to get on the list to be called?

OK Father Rickey time to restore the Diploma. They delivered the entire order correctly, early and cleaned up after themselves and we are happier than two clam's at high tide. I know this kind of store could let you in for some foolishness but you have to control them from jump street. Each person during the process knows clearly no second chance. The very professional driver dropped a chair and told me he damaged it and would be back with a new one in a half hour. A forgivable mistake. He snagged one from the floor in the Spanish Spring Store and all is well. I heard those before me with problems and appreciate their input. Things happen when furniture is ordered.
