Default Closing Colony Blvd?

Anyone know why they are closing Colony July 14-19? Are they going to put up a traffic light or what?

Yes. They are closing the road to install the traffic signals. I was through there yesterday in a golf cart and asked the Community Watch man directing traffic. You can see the cement pedestals on the side of the road waiting for installation.

Will that mean no golf cart traffic too? That's the only way to get to Colony Plaza via golf cart.

So far, the only signs are on the road and not visible to golf carts, so I'm hoping that golf carts can still drive through. If not, it's going to be a royal mess.

I am assuming that the basis for the installation of a traffic signal is to have golf carts safely merge into traffic and also cross Colony Blvd.

And after the signals are installed they plan to close Colony Blvd so the cart path across it can be bricked with pavers.

Once the lights are installed they'll no longer need a crossing guard.
But perhaps a referee

And who thinks that people will actually obey the traffic signal? In TV, aren't red lights purely a suggestion?

People usually stop at red lights. It's the stop signs that are suggestions.

I just got that message too. Wonder why it doesn't say anything about the stoplight.

People coming from the south will probably be directed to cut through the grass at the bank and go out their driveway or maybe they will put plywood over the curbs. Will definitely need someone overseeing this.

I hope the light is flashing after 7pm because there's hardly any golf or car traffic then.

Friday, July 25, 2014. When I went across Colony early this morning, I snapped a couple of photos of the new traffic signals being installed. Have a look.

Please, everyone be cautious and look both ways-twice.
