Default Green light bulbs on light posts

Hello-

Just being nosy….

I’ve seen white lights and I’ve seen blue lights on the lamp posts in front of individual houses. Now I’ve noticed that some houses have green lights on their lamp posts.
Does anyone know if there is any significance to the green or blue lights on the lamp posts?

Thanks
Julie

Blue was in support of Police, no idea of green.

I believe that green bulbs are in support of our troops?

Would you believe green is the color of money? That is why ours is green.

Actually when we moved in our pest control guy said do not get white as it will attract bugs. So we looked around and nobody on our block had green so we got green bulbs.

I was talking to a co-worker today and he mentioned having green lights on at his house in support of his son on active deployment. His son was recently sent in support of the operation in Kabul.

Blue, support of first responders: police, doctors, nurses, paramedics.

I do not know why but we have white bulbs, L E Ds and it does not attract bugs. The old yellow bug lamps, I've not see those in years.

Years ago, I had one of those black light bug electrocution things. Most of what it attracted was moths. Mosquitoes for example are not attracted by light.

My neighbor had red lights for a while. Someone, NOT ME, must have told him what that means

FWIW, there are now yellow LED bulbs. Seem to work fine on my lampost and 2 garage lamps available on Amazon (where else!) to replace yellow incandescent ones that were there. Person across the street from me has red left over from Christmas. I advised her but she laughed.

In my opinion, the garden lamp posts have outlived their usefulness now that the emergency services know exactly where your property is using GPS etc.

I would much rather have no light in my garden, and give nature a break at night when it is supposed to be dark, but well-meaning neighbors replace my bulb if I take it out and I don't want to seem ungrateful.

Now if some red lights start popping up that will really be an interesting thread on this forum.

There should be a circuit breaker controlling power to the lampost light.
