We are moving into our home in the Villages the end of this month. I wanted to bring my Ring Flood Light with me and install in place of one of the outdoor garage lights. Do I need to get permission? Thanks.

If you are adding under eves not a problem. You don’t say if you are on a quiet street. At one of our houses our motion light basically stayed on from dusk to light. Lots of car/cart, walkers, especially with dogs. Plus wildlife was abundant traveling from large pond through our yard. Great pics of bear, panther, bobcats, coyotes, ducks. Lucky the gator was a frequent traveler down the driveway, and one very annoying squirrel that set off lights and cameras 2-3 times a day.

Sounds like you've had the light before so hopefully you've had better luck than me. I tried two of them and they both had a problem with the lights staying on after being triggered and couldn't even turn off from the app. Upon talking with the tech specialists at Ring and google search on the topic, there appears to be a known issue that causes the problem and Ring has yet to correct.

Just unscrew the bulb on the other one/ones so they don’t make contact and leave the bulb in. My lamp post light is sufficient to illuminate the front anyway

If you are removing the coach light I would bet you need permission.
Now coach light height is not really useful for a flood light. Flood lights need height to help spread the light. And if your current flood light is more than 2 years old, it’s outdated. After Amazon bought Ring they spent a good bit of cash on the tech. The new cameras and lights are significantly better. I replaced a coach light on a side door with a wired spot light cam. Works perfectly in that application. |

We had to take ours down. You have no idea how many times it’s going to get triggered by wildlife. Some night we would have 85 videos. We are talking multiple trips by the camera of raccoons, armadillos, rabbits, were biggest offenders, but also had wild boar, bobcats, Florida panther, and bear. We live south of 44 where wildlife is still plentiful in the new neighborhoods.
