Default Has TV been all you thought it would be?

I have been on the Board about a year although I don't post so much - more the last 8 weeks I have been home recovering from a surgery, but back to the salt mines on Monday. I have seen some of you posters sell your homes and move to the Villages during that time. If you have been there six months or so, is the lifestyle all you thought it would be?
Do you get tired of going to the Square? By that I mean, do you still go weekly?
I would think with all the physical activities your general health would improve with more exercise and possibly loss of weight. Have you found that to be the case? I think my blood pressure would improve if I stayed out of the political forum.
Please let me know if you feel the move was all you thought it would be and if you feel your general health improved after arriving. Thanks a bunch!

HOPE YOU are feeling better soon. I can't say because we have only spent 19 days there since we bought in May. I have heard many others say that they are so busy that they have lost weight, but are drinking more.

JUST KIDDING!

Smile And More!

We bought our home 4 years ago, and we have been there for two weeks at a time, each visit..This last time, I stayed a month and I DID NOT want to leave and return to Pa.

Each time we go, we enjoy it more and more..We just bought a bigger house, so the family could visit..

I can tell you one things for sure, the places to eat keep multiplying and so do the pounds if you like eating out..

Full time two plus years. The wife absolutely did NOT want to move away from her family and come to this old persons place. I had to agree to move back to Maryland after two years if she did not like it here by then. We were not here more than three weeks when she said that I could forget ever moving back.

She wanted nothing to do with golf. She now golfs 4 times a week. She didnt want to learn to play pickleball. She now plays 15 hours a week. I swear they put something in the water here to make everyone so active and friendly. If some one told me they would give me 100k . All I would have to do is sell my villages home for top dollar and move outside the villages, I would say no way.

Luckily both my parents and my wifes parents have seen this place and are planning on buying and moving here.

We lived in TV for six months last winter. And we plan on doing the same this winter.

Everyone who moves to TV says they feel 10 years younger. And that is the way we felt. A combination of the fun lifestyle, more exercise, beautiful surroundings, friendly people,

PURE BLISS.

Default Thank God for music

Hi:

The V is a nice place to live. Thank God though for TBOTV. Since I don't play any games involving a ball, cards, crafts, et al. I am NOT a joiner and value what free time I do have. I work 20-30 hours per week, play in various BOTV plus the Lake County group and also practice at home which is about another 18-20 hours per week. My hobbies include baseball research, writing and collecting musical scores and writing a book on minor league baseball history.
You will note with the exception of BOTV, all are quiet time at home projects.
I let my wife do the mah-jong, card playing, going to the square, socializing thing. Quiet and solice are my requisites when working on my projects. Note the time I am writing this (about 12:50 AM). I will go to bed about 4am and get up around noon to begin a new day of adventure.

Neat bumper sticker. Went like this: "It's God's job to judge terrorists. Our job is to arrange the meeting!"

Thanks to all who responded. I wanted to make sure the enjoyment of going to the Square, riding in a golf car, and doing only leisure activities didn't wane after 6 months. I have worked since I was 12 and don't know if I really could entertain myself day after day without a job. It sounds wonderful and we certainly stayed busy during our visits.

Been here a couple of years now and my wife and I still look forward to venturing to one of the squares 2 or 3 times a week for dancing and/or attending a performance at the Church on the Square or go to a movie. Once there, we have a few dances, either in the square or at KB's, chat with new and old friends, perhaps partake of a couple of drinks, and might have a lite dinner or desert and head back home on our golf cart. Where else can you have these daily choices? TV is the best place on Earth!!!

TBOTV = The Bands of the Villages. Here is their website: http://vlgs-bands.home.comcast.net/~...e_villages.htm

There is more opportunity for playing a musical instrument in a group in TV than in most small and mid-sized established cities.

Another example is the model train club, with dozens of people participating in every scale (maybe except "Z", the tiniest - smaller than N scale). That is an activity where you might spend the great majority of your time working your hobby by yourself in your garage or spare bedroom, and joining with the group once or twice a month to get ideas and talk about trains.

A big thing TV has going for it (among all the other "big things") is that the "critical mass" of active and talented people with time creates an abundance of unique activities to participate in with others that are simply not available in most other community settings.

We've recently discovered there is even great support in health care - not just from the "professionals" but from other ordinary folk who "have gone through it."

Only been here 4 monthsbut my "health" got worse! Why?: I went off the deep end right after I got here. I'm a fitness nut to begin with but the miles of bike paths and beautiful scenery for running led me to over do it. Now I have pyriformis syndrome (sciatic pain) and achille's tendonitis. Be careful.... don't over do it!
