Default Coming down from Maine in March

My wife and I are so excited to make our first LSV in March. It should be an awesome break from the very long winters we have up here. We are eager to make some new friends and dream about our future. Any suggestions for first timers would be appreciated.

Simply soak it all in......we loved it so much during our LSV that we looked at houses for 2 full days and found the one we were looking for and are now making our dream 'our reality'

Welcome to another "Mainah". We are in our 15th year here in The Villages and if there is anything I can do to help you please don't hesitate to ask or send me a PM. We had several homes over the years in southern Maine.

March is a beautiful time to visit the area. Be prepared to be blown away by what you see and experience here. Even after living here all of these years I am still amazed and totally awestruck by what I see here every day. I can't imagine spending these years anywhere else.

Welcome to TV! Our younger son graduated from Maine Maritime Academy, not far from Bangor. It's a beautiful area.

i am also from Maine. I did a LVS last Nov and bought a new house. You will be impressed. Look at used and new houses if you decide this is where you want to be. Lots to do here and winters are better than in the Maine we know.

Hello Mainah. Welcome to TOTV. You will get a lot of information about moving to and living in The Villages (TV) by reading and posting questions. I would suggest you take the trolley tour from the sales office at Lake Sumter Landing. It lasts about 1 hour, and when I took it 2 years ago, it was narrated by a Villages resident. You won't get to drive all over TV during this, but it will give you a taste of TV. Have a great time during your LSV.

We're all looking forward to having you here too in March!

Best thing we can suggest now is hunt around TOTV for some of the things to do here which aren't particularly well known and also download the Recreation Calendar here (updated monthly):

Enjoy!

Default Weigh all of your options.

Welcome to you. I think you are gonna be wowed by this place.

Here is a helpful site too. If you are looking at resales you can find out what they paid for them on sumterpa.com. (Property Appraiser for Sumter County) NOTE: Only put the first part of the street name in. Don't neglect to check out FSBO in The Villages, too.

(At least most of the resales are in Sumter County) Bogie or Bk will chime in and tell you the links for Lake and Marion Counties.

Another interesting thing you should do is add the cost of the bond into the cost of the home when comparing. The bond is a separate charge for the roads and water lines and other infrastructure and is NOT added into the cost of the home as it is where you are from.

If you figure this in, New homes and resales are about the same in price.

It takes less than three months to build and they do a great job. We have built seven times before moving here and this was the least stressful, in fact not stressful at all and amazing to watch, they are a well oiled machine.

Good luck on whatever you decide to do. We love it here.

I would take the trolley tour, (it's free). I would rent a cart and drive around.
If you get lost, don't worry, someone will help you especially if you pull out a map. Get a map from the sales office, (cost $5.00). Visit the Village squares and enjoy the entertainment. Visit the rec centers and pools.

Most of all, talk to anyone and everyone. TV people are really friendly.

Be prepared to be blown away by the beauty of TV.
