I believe 6 years. Time to get a new water heater. You are lucky you turned off the water or you would have had a flood. You should always plan to replace your hot water heater when the warrenty is up. If not you are gambling.

I would suggest going to HomeDepot and buying a new unit. They have pretty good plumbers who do the install.
Or you can call Swift Brothers, 844-396-9662

Standard warranty is 6 years. But you can also purchase 8, 10, 12 year warranty with heaters. I am not sure if the warranty is transferable to a new owner but i doubt it.

Most of the warranties I have seen only cover labor the first year … So it is relatively easy to rack up $200 to $300 in plumber costs.

I recently replaced my 20 year old gas water heater. Total cost for a 40 gallon heater, new drip pan, new expansion tank plus installation was just under $1,000 after $350 TECO gas rebate.

I bought a heater with a 6 year warranty after I was told by the manufacturer that the 10 year warranted heater was exactly the same … it just was more expensive because of the additional warranty period

Not true for Rheem water heaters. The Rheem 6-year and 9-year water heaters are not exactly the same. The Rheem 6 and 9 year units both heat the same amount of water, but the 9-year unit has several additional control and cleaning features that are not on the 6-year unit.
