Default Convert Electric Outlet

Can anyone tell me if it is safe to convert the outlet in the grage design for golf cart recharge to a normal double oulet? We have a gas golf cart, so don't need it, but could use another set of normal outlets. I did check and see that it is on a designated 20 amp circut breaker in the box, so figure it may be ok to convert, but just want to ask!
Thanks, Army Guy

It can be easily converted to a simple duplex outlet. Please be sure to use a 20 amp duplex outlet when making the conversion. Check the side of the box when making the purcahse. You will notice that the plug sockets are configured a little differently on a 20 amp. It will still take standard plug in appliances with no problem.

While it is a simple conversion, if you are not sure of yourself, please call a qualified electrician. If you do it yourself, be sure to plug an appliance into the current outlet, turn it on, then turn off the circuit breaker. That way, you will be sure you are turning off the correct breaker.

Might seem silly, but just wanted you to be sure that it is a 20 amp 120 VOLT circuit and not a 20 amp 240 VOLT circuit. Be sure to check first.

Great, and thanks! Yes I will check the 20 amp duplex on box, and yes it is 110.

The outlet that is there can be used as a regular outlet. The time and cost to change it may not be worth the effort. After all you are only gaining 1 outlet.

I converted mine to a duplex. It cost $4.00 for the fixture and about 15 minutes to make the conversion. I find the xtra outlet very handy.

If u want me to make the conversion for u, send me a PM.

Another option is to just get a 20 amp multiple outlet strip and plug it in. Then you'll have 4 extra outlets!
