Anyone have a birdcage added recently? I have noticed some of the new Patio Villas have nice birdcages on the side of the house. I was wondering if anyone knew the price per square foot roughly?

I don't know the SF, but my neighbor had one put on his CYV about 5 years ago and it was $9300 from T&D. He had the 2 sliding doors removed plus the door frames from the old lanai section, it gives a much cleaner and more professional look. He had them install it with the tinted screen, makes a big difference on a sunny day, you can take your sunglasses off. It's bigger than it looks, he has a big hot tub, a good size water fall and pond and a lot of tables and chairs. Here it is from an overhead view. That did not include the concrete pad you'll have to add.

I don't think you can really estimate the cost on a SF basis. If you need a concrete pad, that will be most of the cost. But, my question would be, what is the function? I can understand a birdcage to keep debris out of a pool or hot tub. But, I don't experience a lot of bugs sitting outside, so I am just curious as to what else a birdcage will do. If you have birds in the area, you will have a cleaning issue.

That was about 5 years ago and it didn't include the concrete. Since then he's had the deck coated with cool-decking of some kind, looks really nice. Also the guy is a very shrewd negotiator from Philly, I took him with me when I bought my appliances at Best Buy, saved me about $300.

I have had two birdcages installed over the past 3 years - one at my old home just prior to moving to my new one (it was 450 sq ft), and another when we moved to the new home (1,300 sq ft).
Surprisingly, both cages came out at $22-$23 per sq ft. Both had pet screen, so that was an upcharge. |

I had a birdcage put on the back of my house by Seabreeze Aluminum LLC. It was done by very nice well mannered gentlemen that worked nonstop. They poured concrete , textured and painted the patio, and then installed the birdcage. I absolutely love my birdcage. This company is the best around.

We recently had an 18 X11 screened in pergola with a hard top—it is absolutely stunning—everyone talks to us about it. D& D did it, much more attractive than a birdcage

One of the most useless additions to your house. You have to have some kind of roof covering or you can't sit in it 7 months out of the year. Cost return on the investment is almost a negative number

Can I ask what company did the birdcage and what exactly is ‘pet screen’ as that’s what I want one for, our pets! Thanks and have a great Easter í ½í°£

Totally disagree.
Added a 5' x 14' birdcage extension with concrete pad to my cottage home two years ago to primarily store and operate my BBQ instead of running outside four or five times when cooking. It also extended my living area for my table and chairs and did away with the cramped feeling I had before the addition. Had Brian Terry complete the work and was very happy with the result. He was very competitive with other quotes I received. Cost was $4100, or just under $60 a sq ft. |
