Hard to determine unless you answer other questions. Is there effective solar heating? If so, you will still spend more than $1000 in the colder months to bring the spa up to 100 degrees if you use it fairly regularly. If no solar, that gas bill will be about triple. Are you going to maintain it yourself? If so, a salt chlorination system is cheaper and easier. You can hire reputable people to clean and keep the right chemical balance in a standard chlorine pool/spa for about $1000 a year.Budget at least $1000 a year for equipment repair and replacement, especially if the pool is more than 5 years old. A pool/spa combination is absolutely the most enjoyable luxury you can have - IMHO.
