I would think that in all the years it was in the development, all the above factors mentioned, were taken into consideration. Costco is not known to be an impulsive corporation.
Given that they sell in bulk, you might not want to shop strictly by golf cart.

With the huge amount of new homes south of the Turnpike, Morse, Meggison and 301 are going to be even worse with this draw on the north side. Ugh.

That will help to cut down on the traffic.

I was thinking the same thing.

I am hoping a Walmart or Walmart Market will come to 44 so I don't have to drive to the Buffalo Ridge Walmart.

I would have thought Costco would see the benefit to sit on 44 closer to the interstate -- picking up the Villages, Ocala, and Leesburg.

The Costco on Route 50 in Clermont, even with Tolls, is more appealing to me -- South of 44.

Excited for Sumter County and The Villages, though.

It will be golf cart accessible. (The stores around it currently are).

Not if Woodbridge and Wedgewood are increased to four lanes. Maybe cutting through parking lots, but not on the streets.

I hope Costco comes to the area, just not here. Lastly, for the other commenters, I would think you will lose golf cart access to Costco and all the businesses west of the planned location.
The Walmart there too draws outsiders… not a problem for me. I just can’t believe we “old folks” are finally worth a Costco location!

This news made my day! Now Trader Joe’s will move to the top of many people’s wish list.

Can't disagree with you. Loyal Costco customer and this is one the few Costco stores which is not near a major highway

If we had a choice it would be TJ’s over Costco, but still happy to be getting Costco. Now we won’t have to pack the truck with stuff from Costco when we drive to our Villages home : )

Those folks down south must be upset, to say the least. As it is, we folks north of 44 have so much more retail and restaurants, and now Costco is coming to 466. I'm so glad I live in the Lake Sumter Landing area. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Surprised it’s not going in south of 44.
Maybe Costco is luring people from Ocala?????? Staying north may be the better option for them.
