“Swat Team showed up” - seriously - true or not that is crazy. “ As my mother use to say (her name was Ruth) for the love of Ruth find something else to do”. Read a book, take a walk with your significant other, talk to the neighbor four houses down the street, take the wife shopping, see a bad movie or have sex on the square as the music has stopped there anyway - - “For the love of Ruth”. People are unbelievable!

I play in a foursome every Friday afternoon at one the championship courses. Last Friday we only in 6 holes at Havana before the rain came, and the golfthevillages.com website said all courses closed thru Friday. They already projected this morning on the news we should get about 0.64 rainfall. That's just a normal afternoon? Why they can't reopen at least half of the nines tomorrow or Thursday is ridiculous.

We are opening back up Thursday; going in tomorrow afternoon to get everything set back up and operational.

Thanks for the info. I guess they'll be teetimes sometime tomorrow for Thursday and later on villages.net. Maybe someone could change that crawling banner on golfthevillages.com.

Don, I played golf for years with no rangers on the golf course. I can count the number of hours, when I was a kid, that I was out on a course alone, walking and carrying my bag. I would play in the rain and often would finish at night playing the last two or three holes in the dark.

People play thousands of rounds all over the world without rangers there to look after them.

Have we really gotten to the point where we can be out on a golf course without a babysitter?

ColdNoMore 09-03-2019 02:07 PM

One thing is for sure, we've definitely gotten to the point that there's a lot of complaining/whining...about missing a couple of days of free golf.

We all did, because the courses either permitted it or we were just young an dumb. We also usually walked or pulled. I saw playing yesterday, didn't stay on the paths and were driving on the wet fairways leaving wheel tracks...no respect for not only what was asked, but no respect for the course. The entitled will always be the entitled here and until there are consequences it really doesn't matter does it? As for babysitting, we don't have rangers here because rangers enforce. We have ambassadors that are supposed to be helpful....oh yeah, they are also supposed to rake bunkers and fix ball marks right?

To much I pay for things around here don’t tell me what I can and can’t do!

John_W 09-03-2019 03:33 PM

I don't play free golf, it costs $37 to play on the championship courses. Most of this summer on the championship courses, they've had one ambassador for 18 holes, you might see him once. They had one starter shack open for two nines, for example at Bonifay if you're playing Pensacola, you go check in at Destin starter shack. I think most of us can operate without assistance. I wish it was free golf, in January it will go up to about $57.

Dr. you are correct most courses I have played on in the north you didn't see a ranger. But here people scream if they don't see an ambassador 2 times every 9 holes. The courses were closed not because of lack of ambassadors, but for the safety of the staff, the equipment and to keep control of our courses. But many people do play and are allowed to after hours.
