Talking Chicken & Dumplings Recipe?

Being I did not see a Recipe Thread here, I'm looking for some help, for a good recipe for Chicken & Dumplings in a pan, with gravy(from scratch). With all those wonderful cooks out there, there's got to be someone out there who can help?:icon_hun gry: Thanks

A package of cut up bone in chicken or a whole small chicken.

Place in Dutch Oven and cover with water to which I put a can of chicken broth and about a cup of cut up celery, a half cup of onion and cut up carrots if you like them

Cover and simmer for about an hour or until tender. Check to see you have enough liquid. Remove from heat and remove meat from bones.

I use Bisquick for drop dumplings and I thicken the broth at the end with a couple of tablespoons of flour dissolved in water. Adjust seasonings, add salt and pepper to taste. I like to add a half teaspoon of sage and a pinch of thyme and a little parsley and a splash of half and half at the end.

Drop the dumplings in and cover for a few minutes until dumplings are done and poufed up. If you have fresh parsley add a little cut up to the dumplings. Makes it prettier.

Missy pie? Please give us your recipe. I am getting jitters, hoping this is a good one.

i use the same recipe as gracie - but add the spices about half way thru cooking. i also use an immersion blender to puree any veggies that have not dissolved into the broth [can press thru a strainer if ya don't have that blender]. and i always marvel at how there never seems to be enuf dumplings!

Gracie & njbchbum

Just like Mom made. She made the dumplings from flour, eggs and parsley.

My mouth is watering now for sure. Mom would also add tomatoes mushrooms and a few other things for chicken paprikash. Another house hold staple.
