If your credit card number has been sold on the internet (dark web), you will likely have more fraudulent charges and then your credit card company will cancel your existing card if you don’t. |

When you use your card you never know really if it's going to be stolen especially online so what I do since I have Capital One as I am allowed to make up a new number online for every single account that I pay for it takes about a moment you should ask your credit card company if they do that also. And if you're worried about your online payments with regular accounts . Take the time and change all the numbers it's well worth it

Do not call the number if you believe it to be a fradulent charge. Calling them back gives them your phone number in addition to your valid cc info. Then, they use your number to run up charges on your phone service.

The best credit card tip I know is to copy the 3 digit code on the back of your credit card to a note pad on your phone and keep a paper copy at home.
Then use a sharp tool to scrape the number off the back of your card. When you give your card to someone to pay they cannot take a quick picture of the front and back of your card and use it online. Most businesses want the 3 digit code from your card to complete a sale. |

Thanks for all your input. We will cancel the card. Will use cash until the new one arrives.

Also consider having your credit card company send you a text whenever you use your credit card. This happens within a minute of you using your card. You will then know whether you used the card or if someone else is making a charge on your card.

Fraudulent charge, call your card company, report it to their security dept., and get a new card.

B of America text me every time I have an on line charge in order to verify ok or not! They called me once asking me where I was, I told them Jacksonville and they told me that someone in Brazil was trying to run my card for $6,000 which they obviously denied 🤣

You have reported it as a payment dispute. Your credit card company will not pay the company but rather ask for an explanation or the charge. Your card. If, someone has stolen your card in say a restaurant or on line purchase and then will sell your credit card information they often will put through a small charge to see if the number is valid and then pile on the charges. By notifying your card company, they will be watching for such activity. Change the card number? I would ask the credit card company. Card insurance? Reminder I am not accepting responsibility for ANY damages. My understanding your liability assuming it is a credit card NOT a debit card is limited to $50. |
