Default gourmet food market

I notice the closest market to get really good food is in Orlando ..Whole Foods. There is one in Tampa as well. Trader Joe's will open sometime in Sarasota and Naples in the fall? How is it possible there is nothing here? Not even a selection of good cheese here? Brie in a log? Cheddar in 8 varieties? You can get a very nice selection of wine, and some very very fine ones, but what do you pair it with? potato chips?

your best local option is Fresh Market on 466.

There is also a decent 'organic" farm that sells retail on SR42 just east of the CR475

Will try them both. But why is there such a dearth of good food markets? All these baby boomers like to eat and drink.

Strange as it may sound, I'll bet the market is too small. The population outside TV is not dense at all.

An old Chinese proverb states, "You can't sell steak in a hamburg town."

What is good food? Is it food that tastes good, or is it food that is good for your health? I assume that "Whole Foods" has the wine and cheese you're looking for. But neither of those items are whole.

I don't know that good food is necessarily more expensive. In fact, the cheeses in Trader Joe's were always LESS than the supermarkets. Same with produce. Great bread at less than the publix home mades as well.

But we don't have Trader Joe's. We have Fresh Market with greatly inflated prices

Oh. Are you saying that Market Fresh carries the same goods as Traders does but marks them up?

Oh my, are we going to have one of THOSE discussions about the make up of food? AGAIN? Simple question. Please let's not make more of this than it is.
