Everyone makes mistakes, and a person deserves an opportunity to make it right on their own.

Fair enough. That may be a better option. My guess is a reprimand from corporate would have more effect, and MikeV would have no way of knowing if he had any permanent effect on the manager's behavior. And at least corporate would have one notice that he was acting inappropriately and maybe instruct him to remove any write-up from the employee's record.

Maybe MikeV talked to the manager on his way out? If not, he could now do as you suggested and see how the manager takes it.

I am in total disagreement with your statement - I believe the majority of us are too busy to be bothered with whether we are being treated equally!

I don't agree, but perhaps I'm naive.

How about being happy for the other people they were treated especially good.

The complainer doesn't know how many time they frequent OG with their business, Some customer deserve to be treated better than others!! The complainer needs to get a life.

The complainer should have went to the manager, and see if this is what they consider acceptable practices by their employees. I call it, good customer relations and that customer will be going back, because they were valued.

BTW - My son warned me OG food being terrible. I had a gift card I received, so I went to OG, and he was right. Never again!!!!

I'm sorry, I'm still aghast that someone is watching what goes on at another table so intently. and it could be the waitress miscalculated and didn't expect that much to be left in the bottle....and as I recall that restaurant starts out offering customers a sample of the house wine before the meal....all told you have to be a really miserable human to go to the manager about it

I agree. Who gives a hoot if the person at the next table gets an extra inch or two of wine. Boy howdy.

my opinion, thats what makes the world go round...

Actually, I understood your attempt at hypothesis, it's your analogy with which I had a problem. To equate missing half a meal with another customer getting an extra dribble of wine. It's such a minor thing I see no reason to complain about a server who is working their butt off serving some obviously very miserable customers.
No, I would not be the least bit annoyed if I witnessed the same act.

Ruby Tuesday

I agree with the first post, where are we headed as a society. We ate at Ruby Tuesday last night and listened to the server explain to the two couple that the salad bar ONLY comes with a dinner OR you can pay $2.95 to add it to another choice. Both couples said "we only want one salad bar per couple. Within minutes, one of the wives and one of the husbands went, got piles of salad and an extra plate for their spouse. I'm not sure if you call that arrogance, rudeness, cheap, or what but that doesn't set well with us.

I call that stealing.

No one knows if the waitress was written up but I'm willing to bet she was. My daughter worked at this OG for quite awhile and the managers do write up employees for extremely petty things. This IS corporate policy so I'm not sure what good it would do to complain to HQ. speaking to the manager is not a bad idea. At least then there would be confirmation as to whether the server actually received any sort of reprimand.

I once was waiting for my daughter, sitting at a back booth eating dinner. When Jess got off work, she sat with me while I finished eating (perfectly allowable). Someone actually complained that a server was sitting down rather than working. To say I was irate was a serious understatement. It would be so nice if people would worry less about others and more about their own behavior.

I waitressed my way through school, there is no way I could have worked around here. I'll bet the tattlers are lousy tippers too.

If no one complains to corporate, nothing will happen. If people complain to corporate, something might happen.

I don't think it's a world wide problem, I think it's TV. People are just not able to mind their own business.
I think it is worldwide, but The Villages is a "complaint-driven" community as official policy wrt deed restrictions. Does that mindset perhaps encourage residents to speak up in general when they see any rules being broken?

2BNTV, I sympathize with your gym predicament, but I'm afraid the repeated mantra here that "people think the rules don't apply to them" would come into play.

I got a deed complaint once about a lamppost decoration, which doesn't apply to the historic district, anyway. But whoever the nosy Parker neighbor was, it did tick me off.

To be clear, it would take A LOT to get me personally to complain to a business manager about anything. I avoid public confrontation at all costs -- the thought of speaking up makes me cringe. Also, I'm very inward-focused and don't much pay attention to my surroundings. But I can see the point of the people who complained about you and the waitress not following the rules. I don't agree with them, but I think I understand.

This is what ticks me off royally. You never should have received that complaint. The person who complained should have been told that his complaint was invalid, and why. Rather than make you feel bad needlessly, deed compliance needs to do its job correctly.
