I have a significant number of VHS tapes that my father had "collected" over the years. After he passed I put them in storage and brought them with me when we moved here. I have been instructed to do something with them since the closet they occupy is being re-purposed. . Any suggestions on how to destroy them? I hate to just put them in the trash since they aren't landfill friendly.

Unfortunately whatever you do with them they’ll eventually end up in the landfill anyway. Unless they’re collectibles like original Disney movies there are few other choices, you could try the local flea markets but you’ll probably only be looking at a few bucks at most.
