Hello, planning on making the move toTV in about 15 months or so. I been reading Talk of the villages for most of my questions for about year now.. When We finely get here our main transportation around the villages will be golf cart for the wife and for me my Yamaha C3 scooter.. I plan on Insurance and plates. This scooter even though 49CC runs atleast 39MPH. We have already visited once and planning one more visit before the move.

My question? Can I drive the scooter on the golf cart lanes/trails going to and from the tennis, pickleball courts, solfball fields, and rec centers? I would prefer that even though it can keep up (except steep hill climbs) on any roadway (Don't want drive in down 466, but Morse or Buena Vista wouldn't be problem keeping up in traffic).

The C3 is very neat scooter it has large Locking storage box under the seat, My pickleball backpack, tennis racket and balls fit right under the seat.

The actual trails r for carts, bicycles and walkers/runners all that travel 20mph or less. So I would say that u should stick to the roads.

man I have a 50 CC scooter and I rode it a few times on the golf cart trails boy the looks nearly scared me to death. You are better traveling on the roadway. On the trails the carts will be going much slower than to can. Watch yourself and you will be ok

I have a very small 150 cc scooter.. I drive it on the cart paths all the time. I asked The Villages Golf Cart store about it before I brought it down here. They said as long as you don't drive over the speed limit.... It's OK.

I drive it and get no "looks" You are safer on the paths than you are on the roads....

thanks angiefox! thats the anwser I was look'en for, just cause it will go over the speed limit don't mean I have to drive it wide open all the time. Just wanted to know if it was an option. I may stick to roads anyway. On my first visit only the rental golf carts was only ones under the speed limit and I really got looks. (enjoy you scooter?, 2007 model with 15, 210 miles!)

If its a registered 49cc scoter you can drive on any roadway in florida, including all the roads in the villages which golf cart lanes on the main roads, you just can't drive on golf course paths, trails are allowed.

Angiefox is exatly correct.I drive a 49cc with insurance and plates. I always drive on the larger rec paths when possible. Even though my scooter will run nearly 40, I drive at golf cart speeds when on the paths.

"you just can't drive on golf course paths, trails are allowed." Didn't mean the trails or path around golf courses, but the lanes on and beside Morse or Buena Vista Going to and from. Anybody know what the registration fee is in Fl. Here in OK it's 85 bucks annually for scooter (In OK I can't drive in on interstate, Not that I would want to) I think thats OUTragous when My 2003 truck registration is $82 annually and my wife's new honda $95. I play golf also but dought I will have time to play when I get there unless I get bored with tennis, pickleball, softball, table tennis, billiards.

I have a sweet Vespa 49cc, love it and ride it on the golf cart trails all over TV. Occasionally I do get a "No" head shake and once in a great while someone will yell, but I just smile and keep going. I figure if street legal carts can use the trails, so can I (keeping to 20mph or below, of course). I called the Lake Co Sheriff's office and was told it was legal. I do feel safer on the trails than on the streets, if the circles scare you in a car try them on a scooter. I think for my size of scooter I'm restricted to streets with a 35 mph limit so theoretically 466 and such is not for me, too busy anyway. You could google for Florida state government definitions of motor scooters, motorcycles, motor bikes etc. (they're quite specific) plate requirements and speed limits for cc size. Glad you're planning another visit so you can check around on your own and continue making your plans for the big move. Good Luck!
