Oh Thank you for bringing this up. I suspect you are talking about the Taboola ads. I was reluctant to bring it up because there are folks who don't like me on this forum and I was afraid they would say that the ads I was seeing was a result of my personal interests.

Only people who know me will know they are not.

I just sent a note to the TOTVTeam and they answered that they are unable to disable them.

I do NOT like them. I hate them mightily. (The Taboola ads, NOT the TOTV TEAM)

I hate them too as when I click the classifieds button many boxes of them pop up before I can see the classifieds. I'm tired at looking at that man's hairy leg or stories about celebrities who seem nice but are actually jerks.

I dislike them also. My guess is that they are a source of income. I think they could filter them out if they wanted to.

stvaughn, I am sorry, but you are incorrect and TOTV team is correct.

If one clicks on the *tiny* right arrow next to "sponsored links by taboola" a new browser window should open. If you follow the instructions and choose opt-out for all the advertisers, within 10 days you should no longer see the ads. Best practice dictate that one "opts in" rather than having to "opt out" of online advertising. That does not mean that companies follow Best Practices.

However, Federal law requires companies to take you off their list within 10 days of your opt-out request.

I am getting a bit tired of people expressing paranoid opinions without actual facts.

All you have to do is enable an ad block on your browser. I had no idea people still browsed with ads!
I use AdBlock extension on Chrome.

Ok, I clicked the arrow on the top right of the ads, selected protect your choices, it did a search of my browser and came up with 127 ad choices. I checked the box to select all and it opted out of 99 of those and said to check back later that there were technical difficulties opting out of the rest. I will do those later. Hopefully that takes care of it.

jnieman, not really technical difficulties. Click on Continue, then select the remaining boxes. Don't know why, but that will take care of the rest of them.

If you are using Chrome, I highly recommend you install the extension AdBlock. You can get it here:

AdBlock - Chrome Web Store

Works great!

This totally worked. So easy to install and started working right away. No ads at the bottom of the regular TOTV page or at the bottom of the classifieds page. I am so hoping this stops those video newsfeeds on my AOL also. THANK YOU!!!!

Please tell me - where exactly on the TOTV page would I find the words
"sponsored links by taboola".

Scroll to the very bottom of this page and on the right hand side, just above the photos of each link, is where you'll see it.

Assuming you don't already have some type of 'ad-blocking' program working.

Don't ask me what I did, but something I did to my browser, Mozilla Firefox, a couple months ago eliminated all the ads on TOTV. I am so happy! Especially since the Zulily ad, a constant irritating browsing companion, is gone.

It is the hairy leg that makes me want to bite.
