Practice the phrase "can't get there from here" it will come in handy. Actually you will be able to get everywhere in the villages by golf cart, it will just be a loooong ride.

If you are retired then don't wory about the time it takes to get around TV. Exploring is fun. Just seriously consider a gas cart as you get about 240 miles on a full tank. There are numerous choices for buying carts but my recommendation is Grandma and Grandpa's Village Buggies.

Seriously consider an electric, nobody drive 240 miles driving around The Villages in one day.....that would be about a 15 hour ride or more. I just had to speak up for those that have figured out that electric is a quieter, less maintenance, cleaner and non smelly choice....

Also better for the environment, eg., global warming.

Welcome to The Villages and best wishes on your new home. I think you are actually near a lot of places. You are close to Colony Plaza, Belle Glade Country Club, and three new executive golf courses. You are also close to Bonifay Country Club. I do not think you are secluded. I had taken a golf cart ride to the new area and was actually surprised at the close proximity to various places.

Well I bought a new gas cart but I don't think that is what the OP asked. I also just bought a new to us house in Village of Charlotte. On paper we wanted a new home in Pine Ridge, nice price and floor plans we liked, but when looking at preowned vs new the preowned won. We got many upgrades already done with preowned, with new you get everyone looking to make friends and more expense on all the small things. A personal choice that only you can decide. Not a wrong decision coming here!

And that number came from where?

Its a couple of miles further to the town squares, but there is still a lot of stuff within an easy 3 mile golf cart ride. Theres easy entrance and exit onto 466a that eliminates all the red lights near Colony. The only real downside is that its in Lake County where residents will have to pay approx $500 a year more in taxes than in Sumter County.

The only 'bad' things that I can think of is the taxes are slightly higher and the construction that you will have to deal with until its built out. Other than that you'll love the area. Convenient to shopping, courses, rec centers, Belle Glade, etc. Brownwood is only about 15 mins on golf cart. We bought in LaBelle north and love the area! I think Pine Ridge will be beautiful when its done.

Congrats on your decision to move to The Villages. It is a fabulous place to live. Every village has it's pros and cons. You could make lists all day and still think of more things to consider.

No matter where you choose to live here, it is a wonderful place to live. You will find great neighbors and new friends. Everyone here is from someplace else and we all have that in common, if nothing else.

Some of the pros, for starters:
Pine Ridge has more elevation change to the land which makes it much more interesting than many of the other Villages.
There are new floorplans there that were not built before.
You will be close to several Recreation centers, both pre existing on Pinellas and Colony, and new ones to be built east of Morse.
You will be close to Colony shopping center for banking, shopping, dining.
You will have 4 Country clubs just a short golf cart ride away. Havana, Belle Glade, Bonifay and Evans Prairie.

Don't be afraid to get an electric cart. The new ones have 50-60 miles range and believe me, no matter how much you love your golf cart, you will not cover that much territory in a day. An electric will give you plenty of range if you become an educated shopper and are responsible about charging it properly. We bought 2 electrics and are sooooo very glad we did not buy gas. Loud, smelly and did I mention LOUD???

No matter which you choose, you will enjoy exploring in your golf cart. And do explore. You will find surprises around every corner.

We had a golf ambassador tell us today that he moved here because you can live like a millionaire here. I think he is really right. You have more options here than any where else we have ever seen. If you are bored here, there is just no hope for you!! LOL! We consider ourselves "still on vacation" after 1 1/2 yrs.

Moving here was the best thing we have ever done for ourselves. I think you will find the same. Welcome!

Good luck and enjoy every moment of your new lives here!!
