Default DirectTV, can you have a satellite dish on your property?

I see many references to DirecTV on TOTV, but I have never seen a dish mounted around The Villages. Are there restrictions on satellite dishes in TV?

Call the Direc TV people. Mine is mounted in the ground, some are on the roof. I no longer use satellite TV ( 2 + years), but since the dish is located behind the house it's no issue leaving it there.

I would not recommend Direct TV, I have them up North and yes you may get 125+ channels but 115 of them are useless. In the process of finding another way to watch TV. We are also using Netflix, Hulu, Apple, Disney for better choices of movies etc. In the Villages we are using Comcast Xfinity. We have no issues with reception and it seems to be a better selection. I have a 2 year agreement and I have been told after the 2 year contract the price will increase considerably??? So we will see what happens then.

No Restrictions that I know of. We purchased a home that had Direct TV but chose to go to Comcast Xfinity. Satellite dish was removed when the new roof was installed.

Default Risk

Yes, but would not recommend having it placed on roof as that may cause a problem with the warranty on the roof.

FCC rules override any and all HOA rules so you are allowed to have an OTA (Over The Air) antenna, dish, etc. As noted above you may want to check with reliability of signal for whatever service you decide on. Depending on where you live there are many people using OTA antennas pointed at Orlando and get 65 channels. I seem to have an obstruction in Leesburg and have not been successful so far.

Note that those those are "suggested" guidelines and not "rules." Putting a dish on the roof IF NECESSARY can not be prevented per FCC regs if their guidelines are followed. ARC "suggestions" are good but are just that ..... suggestions.

The Architectural Review Committee publishes the following suggested guidelines regarding the
placement of satellite dishes:.

AND YES YOU DID! Winner winner chicken dinner Was just clarifying that it's just a "suggestion" and NOT a "general rule" as "guidelines" could be taken either way. Hope I didn't hurt your feelings but if so you should recover quickly.

Thanks for all the input. Now I have a much better understanding of what we can do if we happen to go in that direction.

Your question has been answered but just be aware that when we get our daily thunderstorms you will probably lose your signal. I still have the dish on my roof but dumped Directv for that reason

Just renewed with Comcast Xfinity, my bill did not changed one bit, other than additional $5 worth of taxes. I had Dish, Direct, Fibervision, nothing and I emphasize nothing beats the reliability and clarity along with strong WiFi like Comcast Xfinity provides. No I have nothing to gain here just my opinion

I’m no expert, but I do know I’d rather not have any dish on my roof with the kind of lightning the Villages can get.

I also have Direct TV, as do some of my neighbors. My dish is on the roof of the house, and has been there for six years with no issues at all. There are no restrictions that I'm aware of.
