Default Are Christmas Decorations coming to early at the Recreation Centers??

We were at our local Recreation Center and noticed Christmas trees are already up and decorated. I mean it is only November 3rd......isn't someone pushing the season a little early. I understand all the Rec centers are under the same guidance. Whats the rush...we still have Thanksgiving to celebrate!!

I actually asked that question at Colony Cottage. I was told that the contract for assembling the trees is one person who has to do all the trees in all the rec centers. The larger trees can take several hours each. Thus she has to start very early to get them done on time (not sure what on time entails). I cannot vouch for the story, but it is the one I was given. If true, the solution would seem to be hire more people. I doubt it is difficult to find workers who can do that task.

I have found that once November starts the time just flies by. With all of the holiday parties planned at the Rec Centers they probably have to get those trees up as soon as they can. I'm sure the rooms will be booked steadily between now and the end of the year. You are right though it used to be that you wouldn't see Christmas decorations until December. Now you see them as early as Halloween.

Agree 100% Mr. Bogie ! It just never fails to amaze me . It must be a joy to live with such .

Last Friday as I was leaving one of the Rec Centers I witnessed a woman just abusing two of the volunteers over a list of felt wrongs / slights and in the " Tug Boat Annie " fog horn style .

It was just uncalled for . I waited at the exit and when " Tug Boat " had stormed off still ranting I went to the volunteers and praised their paitence .

I have heard that volunteers help with the decorating. I agree with the OP that "Christmas" begins far too early...but the amount of decorating that the rec centers has isn't it far better to do it early so we can enjoy them...along with all the parties that are being booked as well since that gives them a holiday spirit.

Except there are not to many "Christmas " parties in November. Its funny that The Villages will not even allow residents to place outdoor decorations such as Christmas lights up for more than 30 days....yet the Recreation Centers are decorated 7 weeks before the holiday.

I am fairly certain Rec Center employees with assistance from volunteers put the trees up in the Rec centers.

I am already getting a fair amount of emails previewing or providing advance notice of upcoming "black friday" sales. I guess radio stations should start playing Xmas music next week.

Seems strange to me. You are only allowed to have holiday decorations displayed at your home for 30 days. (supposedly) Double Standard???

What if the rec center's put up decorations 3 days before Christmas............would that be a problem? Seems that the rec centers are damned if they do or damned if the don't.
Is it even politically correct to put up Christmas decorations?............only?

Using the good old fashioned real life right or wrong......putting up Christmas decorations is not wrong!

The real wrong in our lives is the obsessive use of the so called politically correct thinking which is nothing more than a means of not telling it like it is or calling it wrong or incorrect if it is.

I know it was a light hearted commentary but political correctness ALWAYS pulls my chain (and my puke button)

Standard practice ever since I was a kid was always after Thanksgiving to put up Christmas decorations.

Why would you even post a statement like this. No one in this thread is agruing that Christmas decorations should not go up..but its the timing and encroachment on other holidays that bother me as well as others.. When does the Christmas season start. Many people in their homes put up a christmas tree on Christmas Eve and shortly thereafter take it down. Thats a personal family decision and I have no problem with that. The REC centers support the community and we would all expect decorations for the season. Christmas (holiday) parties are held throughout December.....not starting November 3rd. Again TV needs to address the issue.... when does the Christmas season "reasonably" begin. TV is not selling anything so I see litttle need for putting a tree up in time for Thanksgiving!

I certainly hope we never get to the situation where putting up Christmas tress in the Rec Center comes down to being politicaly correct or not.

And mine as well.................
Just don't see the need for The Villages, to "address" this situation.
Or as you like to put it, "the minority imposing on the majority"
