Default Disposing of paint, electronics,toxics,etc.

Can anyone give me a lead on how to dispose of my paint cans, electronics (e.g. old DVR's, computers), gasoline, oil, etc. here in The Villages?

If you live in Sumter county, there is a toxic waste collection March 23 from 9-3 at the high school in Bushnell. You should be able to get rid of your items there.

Default Paint

If you have latex paint...there are a few options....the best is to see if you can use it or maybe a neighbor...
Even if it is finish paint, it could be used for a "primer coat".

Otherwise, if the can is more than 1/4 full, kitty litter, sand, or sawdust will absorb it...then put in trash....it is not toxic.
Under 1/4 of a can, leave it open to dry out, and throw in trash, still open...

The only threat from "latex" paint is the potential "mess" with disposing it...but it is non-toxic.

OIL based (alkyd) is different and MUST be disposed of properly, according to local/state ordinance.

Hi, Lowe's in Orlando took back old paint for proper disposal. Take your old cans to the paint department. Disposal of these items should be offered more than once a year in our local counties.

Lake County Transfer Station for HAZMAT on Rolling Acres Road will take most of your stuff, open on Tuesday and Saturday's. They take tires, paints, oil's, electronics and yard waste. It's about half a mile South of the American Legion Post on the east side of Rolling Acres Road.

Default Lake County Transfer Station for HAZMAT

Does anybody know if Lake County Transfer Station for HAZMAT on Rolling Acres Road will take items from Sumter County residents? When i first moved here it seemed like anybody could use it, but then they started checking drivers licenses for what county you lived in.
