Could be Hooded Mergansers. We've seen them in the ponds near our house for the last 2 months or so. They appear to dive as a group. When one goes down it seems that many others follow suit.

Thank you for posting this. I've wondered what kind of duck they are too. It's interesting to watch them dive - much different than the Anhingas (snake birds) so common on the ponds in The Villages
