Default DMV to reopen for new Drivers License?

The only remaining item I need to establish Florida residency is a new Drivers License. DMV remains closed to that purpose. Has anyone heard or know when that service may be available?

Have you tried calling them? I believe you can go in by appointment. All you need is to show documents (proof of residence). It took my wife more time to decide on a license plate than to give and complete our change. This of course was B4 Covid.

Due to COVID-19, FLHSMV is providing modified in-office services by appointment only.

Maybe if you asked them that question they could they have thought you were referring to literally a "new driver's license" (like for a 16yr old kid) rather than a switch for residency requirements ???

I can't understand why they can't do that because all they do is take your old license/reg, you sign their machine which also takes your photo and you are done. Since there is a law requiring it be done within a specific amount of time if you live here full time they could be creating illegal drivers plus as well as create insurance issues.

If my current license is expiring they’ll let me switch from IL to FL, and make appt. but if it’s not expiring, no appt.

Just spoke with Sumter Co tax collectors office. The Wildwood location is "open" for drive-through business, and they're scheduling appointments for drivers licenses. We just made appointments for next week. Don't know about other counties.
