I don't usually enter on-line competitions, but I've been getting so many promotional e-mails from The Villages Daily Sun that I decided to enter one of theirs.
I have never seen so much unsolicited mail pour into my Inbox. |

I would suggest using a bogus e-mail address, but then you'd never know if you'd won a prize.

When you enter your info, there is a box you can uncheck that asks if you want to be contacted by the advertisers. Just uncheck the box and you are good. I do not get any solicitations from their advertisers.

Doesn’t everyone have 4 email addresses.
One for banking, investments and CC, (only on one device.) One for personal emails from family, few friends medical. One for work and the contacts that go with it One just for junk, so whenever a business, new golf equipment company, stupid contest that you gave no idea why you filled it out. Once a month I dump junk to spam, so always get dumped. Keeps some emails because you know that restaurant will have something worthwhile . OP if you would have used this account, you wouldn’t have inbox full of unwanted emails, infiltrating your important emails. I do take this email one step farther, I only use one device just for this purpose, it’s older so if something happens to the account, the device can be factory reset. Or dispose at Best Buy |

Yes, I did use my "Junk" Hotmail account - it was just the torrent of e-mails coming in that surpassed anything I had seen before
Even though it is my "Junk" account, I still scan through it just in case anything of interest has found its way there - rare, but not unknown |

Now you’re on a list. Hopefully you didn’t supply your mailing address because you’ll end up getting a lot of stuff in the mail now too.

In an email address, "using" typically refers to the "plus sign (+)" which allows you to create variations of your email address by adding a plus sign followed by any text before the "@" symbol, effectively creating unique aliases that still deliver emails to your main inbox; for example, if your email is "john.doe@email.com", you could use "john.doe+newsletter@email.com" to manage subscriptions separately.
Key points about using "plus" in email addresses: Function: This feature is often called "plus addressing" or "sub-addressing" and is supported by most major email providers like Gmail, Yahoo, and Outlook. How to use: Simply add a "+" sign after your username and before the "@" symbol, followed by any descriptive text you want to categorize the email. Benefit: This allows you to manage different types of emails by creating separate aliases for specific purposes like shopping, work, or social media, while still receiving all emails in your primary inbox. |

Yes, I have multiple emails for different purposes.
I use my hotmail account for all "junk." Stuff I know I'll be deluged with more junk. The beauty of hotmail, is that I can click on any email I receive and mark it "sweep" and make some decisions: my favorite: Delete all email from this address after 10 days. where to: I chose garbage. Cleanest email account I've got. Zero maintenance after choosing sweep. |

I only have 160 email addresses. So easy to use and generate an email address for each site you join. When you’re done, then just deactivate the email and you never get another email from them. 2 years ago I was buying a new car and I visited around 40-50 dealers in a 400 mile range and asked each 1 to give me their best deal. I used a new email address for these websites. After I bought my car, I deleted the email address and never saw an email from these dealers. Before deciding on the car, I would receive many emails from them indicating they were having sales, etc. Using Apple, the OS associates each email with a website, so every so often I edit this list and delete the 1’s I don’t need anymore

Never knew this.. What a great tip. Back in the pre-spam/internet days I would sign up for a magazine subscription and use a different middle initial (like X)--It was interesting to see the other junk mail I received with that odd initial. Popular Mechanics sold their subscription list to EVERYBODY. LOL |
