Parking Moron
I live in a villa and some idiot parked their car on the street in front of my house last Sunday and it is still there today. I called the Sumter County Sheriff who sent out a deputy and he informed me that since it was on private property, there was nothing they could do. He did inform me that the vehicle was a rental car which brings to question the issue of why someone would pay rental fee and leave a car sit for two days.
I then called Community Watch who informed me that if the car was not blocking an intersection, a fire hydrant or someone's driveway, there was nothing they could do. I put a note on the windshield of the car requesting that the car be parked in the visitor parking and that if the person had an issue with that, I would be happy to "discuss" it with them. I provided my name and address as well as phone number. I also polled the immediate neighbors and they do not know whose car it is. Anyone have any suggestions as to what else I can do? Thanks |

Maybe call the rental agency and see if they are missing a car

If it is not preventing you from getting in or out of your driveway try not to let it upset you. There just might be a good reason why it was left there.

I can get out of the driveway although it is more difficult with the vehicle parked where it is. I just can't understand the stupidity that some people have when there is visitor parking close by. Guess they figure the world revolves around them.

I thought in a previous thread it was established that you could not park on the streets. You would get a ticket. If it just depends on what county you are in than I got it wrong.

Nothing you can do. It's not a private road. I personally would take the note off the windshield.

As distressing as it might be to you, there does not seem to be anything that is illegal with parking it the way that they did. |

You could simply remove the note and find something more productive to concentrate on. You know there are still many more "morons" out there doing other horrible things that could impact you even more. Like saving seats in the squares, taking dogs to dining establishments, busting through our gates, peeing in your pool, contractors speeding, snowbirds clogging the streets, etc.
Or, perhaps consider doing what that famous philosopher, Aaron Rodgers, said: "R-E-L-A-X". |

Are there conflicting rules between The Villages and the county?

Villa streets are private property. The other streets belong to the County.

I agree with all those who are advising to remove the note from the car.

Why not call the rental agency and report you have found one of their stolen vehicles. Maybe there is a reward!

The villas have extra parking. I saw that. The rest of us can have friends park around our street and not worry about tickets. |
