Default Unwanted Daily Sun delivered

I currently watch a neighbors home for the summer. A few weeks ago, the Daily Sun started to be delivered. I sent emails to the circulation department and stopped in their Spanish Springs office to stop the paper to no avail. This apparently happens often where they just start sending a free subscription. Papers can pile up causing concern for the Villages Watch and let bad guys know folks are away. Should not be allowed...simply a way to show a larger subscription base.

The question is why do folks, including those not home for months, get papers delivered they did not request. Dangerous for their property and most likely they are unaware of the situation

It’s a promotional paper the resident did not request. Appears without notice. That should never happen without affirmative consent

I was offered a free paper for 6 months, but I had to call to get it started. Now I am considering cancelling because I never read it.

My neighbor's been getting the paper delivered to her house daily for the past week. The home is unoccupied at the moment. I, not being the homeowner or legally designated person, can't call to have her paper held up til she gets back. You can't just call a company and tell them to stop doing something for someone else's property. Believe me if that was legal I'd be calling the handyman and tell him to stop coming to build and paint at my other neighbor's house - because he keeps leaving a mess. But it's not my property, I'm not the one who hired him for the job, and I don't have the authority to tell him to stop.

If the delivery of the paper continues this week I'll call my neighbor and let her know, and SHE can call to cancel if she wants. In the meantime, we're just tossing the paper under her carport by her doorstep. She'll be down here in a month, so she'll have plenty of reading materials when she gets here.

Out of the blue, I started receiving the DS with a note that they were giving it to me for six months. After a couple of weeks of throwing it away in the trash, I finally called them and told them that I did not want it. They immediately stopped delivering it. I don't see the problem.

It's not only the Sun.
I want to stop all paper deliveries left on my driveway.
Once a month I drive over the Village Newspaper, what do I have to do to stop this?
Maybe if I leave my wastepaper in front of their door, they'll get the message.

The problem is that I am not the homeowner, just someone who unofficially watches their home and I don't have a contact number for them.

All you have to do is call 352-753-1119 which is the Daily Sun. Tell them the neighbors house is vacant and the papers are piling up. They will stop the paper. Someone else mentioned other papers that are thrown on the driveway. The only other one I know that is delivered is the POA. If you actually open the POA Newspaper, it has a way to opt out of delivery.

Why don't you have a contact number for them? What if there is a leak in the home? Why bother even "watching" the home if you have no way to contact the owner in case of a problem?

You will be telling a stranger on the phone that a home is vacant. Not a good idea.

Interesting that you are watching someone’s home but have no contact information for them. Should probably have their permission before doing anything regarding their house. As far as the paper is concerned I doubt the paper would allow someone to control their neighbor’s delivery. Community watch says to never pick up a neighbors paper cause when the papers pile up they know to check on the owner to be sure they are okay. Maybe they also can call the owner if not in town to let them know. Try calling Community Watch to see if they’ll take care of it.
