Of course it’s wrong. The animal is innocent - it’s the owner that should be punished. But people do what is easiest. In my northern city they leave poisoned food for dogs when people let dogs off leash. Especially in areas where young children are playing. There is a big quaffafle and investigation when a dog dies. Makes it in the news etc. but no culprit is ever found. So very sad.

Covering it is not an "upside". It is now a landmine onto which unsuspecting individuals may step. Keep pets, whatever they are, off the neighbors yard.

People want everyone else to be responsible for them these day. Zero accountability and zero respect for property.

And a lot of people responding on here don't live in the villages. They are trolls.

Of course poisoning animals is wrong. But, as I said earlier, it is the irresponsible pet owners that are ultimately responsible for all the threads, acts to deter animals from one's yard, and even, sadly, revenge against the pet owners that may end badly for the pet.
Imagine a sewage truck that unloads in your yard. One that you can't catch in the act. You know it's the driver that is responsible. Much easier to put spikes in the area to damage the truck than to fight with the driver.

This is so sad. Hurting the innocent ones.

A long time ago, when we lived in SE FL we had a sweet dog that we taught very well. She was so much fun. When we walked if we stopped to cross the street or talk with someone she would stay by my side. She wasn't to go up to anyone. I taught her this in case people were afraid of dogs or didn't want her near them for any reason. The majority of people always wanted to pet her, so then I let her walk up to them.

One day our sweet girl started vomiting. This was on a Sunday. On Monday morning I drove her to our vet. I was concerned about her becoming dehydrated. The vet checked her and said she was OK and gave her some meds to calm her tummy.

The next morning our girl had gotten sick during the night. When she walked to her food bowl she walked as though she had aged 10 years. There was something very wrong.

So off to the vet I took her. The vet couldn't believe the condition she was in. She had gone from being OK to being malnourished over night. I left her for their so the docs could help her. She didn't survive.

Later our vet called and asked if a neighbor might have poisoned her. I couldn't believe those words came out of his mouth. But after time passed I thought about it. I'll never know for sure what happened. But the man who lived behind us had gone through a bitter divorce. His wife left and he then started having friends over day and night, partying. I can't say that one of his friends did this but there were a lot of people there and it is a possibility.

It's just hard to get my head around someone doing anything like this to an innocent animal - even though we all hear about these things.

If you have the energy to take your dog out early in the AM, you have the energy to clean up after it.
It's a never ending problem in The Villages. Exists in all communities I'm sure, but never lived in any state or city where it's this common for people to intentionally take their dogs to the lawns of others, often several blocks away. Sometimes it helps if you wait for them (that's annoying, feels like the responsibility is on the innocent) and snap a picture, they will avoid your block or street. But, that does not mean they learn to walk their dog around their home until they get the results they want, and then take the dog on a walk if not yet tired out. Usually, it only means they will simply take their dog to the lawn of another, so your gain is probably someone else's misfortune. How simple it would be to end all "dog poop" threads year after year, just keep your dog and it's deposits in your own yard. YOU can decide if and when you want to pick it up. Don't bring it to neighborhood pools to "deposit" (Oh, in this hot weather the odor from the waste receptacle is overwhelming, happens every year, yet, clearly posted to NOT put dog feces in waste receptacle) , and when walking your dog have a leash you can control to keep it out of the lawns of others. I "could be so simple, simple RESPECT, but not going to happen. This should be among the most simple things to solve. The "developer" (that mystical creature referred to on here so often), is not going to be interested in this problem and the police have much better things to do than talk to trespassers, so grow up people, be kind, be respectful to each other and to all our community. It could end forever this week, IF YOU MAKE IT HAPPEN.

Probably some people do not know the difference, but it's not difficult to recognize the obvious differences. It's perhaps like horses and zebras... you hear hoof beats, which is the logical "guess"... horses or zebras ? When you are at the neighborhood pool, and the breezes blow that pungent summer "smell" from the postal station waste can... do you think coyote feces or ... dog feces ? Of course we see occasional wild animals, what are the odds a wild animal will continually find your lawn... compared to the odds of the guy you see twice a day walking one or more dogs (at times FOUR) every morning and every evening and always standing far from anyone's lawn while reeling out the leashes for the dogs to go onto the lawns of others. It's really bizarre why people do this ? ? I repeat, it's simple, just be kind to others and show respect and no more posts and complaints needed !

Maybe it was a Baby Ruth bar, chocolate brownie or doughnut. Or, maybe it is really what OP said it was. Dog poop!

It should be picked up wherever they go. If it's in the street, it ends up in the tire tread and stinks up the garage.

Poop on Pinellas Place!!!!

I can't believe a dog owner would leave it there.

Lack of respect.

Entitled.

Oh wait..................it's just dirt.
Nevermind.
