Default Dogs or coyotes?

Not sure which category this should be under. I just took the dog out for his late-night pee, and there's dog's barking all over the place. They sound far away. We live in Tamarind, and that field along 466A with all the moo cows is not too far away. We can hear them mooooooooooing in the morning and evening when it's quiet. But I've never heard these dogs. Some were barking, some yelping, one howling. They were big-dog type barks, not little yippers.

I wonder if they could have been coyotes? I've never heard a coyote bark, and I've only ever seen one in person. We didn't introduce ourselves.

Those are coyotes. There's a pack of 15 or 20 that hang out near the pasture watching for un-attended new calves.

Yikes. I walk my dog down to the end of Tamarind Grove Run every night around 9 o'clock, Then we come back and go past the Tamarind maiboxes/pool to the neighborhood on the other side and walk that. I have never heard these coyotes before, but that field is right there behind the park.

I don't usually go into the park behind the maliboxes because it is so dark back there. Now I for sure won't. I have noticed the dog sniffing the air around there. Normally he just sniffs the ground.
