Agree! The ultimate in showing contempt for their neighbors by using their neighbors yards as pet potties. If they feel contempt in return from their victims, they are reaping what they have sown and deservedly so.

It's like a car accident, everyone slows down and rubber necks to see..................over 1,000 views..............and nothing to see here.

Didn’t anyone get the memo, Every corner lot is a dog park. Say there are 10 dogs that get walked twice a day. Each dog uses that lot at least once, maybe twice. That’s only 10-15 times a day that corner lot gets used. Some may pick up, some not so much. Then some dog owners travel to postal station, which is the second dog park in each neighborhood.

Our last dog was a Belgian Shepherd, retired LEO, she was an amazing dog, however walking in her territory was not allowed in her opinion. She however was so well trained on command would stop and drop. But Continued to growl at you, which was daunting for many, as they passed by her. She would have love it here, the agility park would have been her favorite, sadly she passed away, from old age.

I would highly advise against moving here. If you look around you will see all the lawns are either dead or covered in poop so you can't even see any grass... Ahem...

One thing is sure, there will be at least thread per month (or more) complaining about this world ending problem.

I walk my nieces dog all the time in Boston he goes on the sidewalk , even where there is a little grass he prefers the pavement just like all the other dogs he knows, FYI he doesn’t need pads in the summer or be carried by his owner because the pavement is to hot and he doesn’t need a sweater in the winter , he’s 14 and he likes living like a real dog , Go Pats

be happy it’s only water I know someone who was so fed up with the dog walkers he was putting poison out.

The first 10 feet of what most people consider “their yard” is right of way and is up for grabs.

Yes it is for the most part. Some don’t recognize property rights. Your dog, your property. Easy as that. Unless you don’t mind if I relieve myself on your property after a late night at the Squares. :a040:

Take a law class, you will learn you are wrong. Any right of way is for required crews like city personnel, utilities, etc. NOT for anyone else, that is actually trespassing. Guess we know you believe you’re welcome to anyone’s property.

We are currently renting a home in TV and are looking to buy at some point. One thing that we have noticed is folks walking by with their dogs and setting them up to poop on our lawn and then cleaning it up.
We are not dog haters and have recently lost our dog.
Why can't folks have the dog poop on their own lawn and then go for walk.
We had a poop place in our backyard for our dog to poop.
I'd love to hear other people's thoughts on this.

I totally agree with you!! Dog Owners, have your dog poop on your lawn first before taking them out for a walk!! Find a dog park in your area and take your dog there to poop!!

Maybe we should just leave our front doors open incase they would like to come in and crap

If you are considering buying here, keep in mind that this happens, it is legal, and there’s nothing you can do about it. You won’t find The Villages to be America’s friendliest home town if you start berating dog owners. Dogs go where they go, and owners are relieved when it happens, so they can go home. One reason for walking dogs is to help them feel the need. Many of us don’t have enclosed yards and are nervous about trusting an underground electric fence.

Let's understand when they are trespassing. Check your plot diagram. In most yards, the front property line ends approximately 12-13 feet from the curb. You do not own the area from that line to the curb. Thus, if they encroach on that area, by law, they are not trespassing.

GaryKoca 10-03-2022 06:07 AM

I don't mind if dogs urinate on my lawn. There are not a lot of public places in the neighborhoods where you can wait a while. Regarding pooping, that is not a problem as long as they pick up after they do that. Most people pick up the poop, but not everyone. I just don't understand that.

raney3099 10-03-2022 06:14 AM

We always pick up after our baby girl. Believe me I wish she would go on my lawn. Walking her 3x a day is not fun for us. I’ve stayed out there with her for long periods of time and will only pee. She needs to walk in order to poo. So we walk!! If that really bothers, then there are communities that are pet free. Maybe that would be better for those who find this to be a big problem. I couldn’t image spending my day watching to see if dogs are on my lawn. I think there are lots of other more fun things to do in TV.

BoatRatKat 10-03-2022 06:15 AM

My gosh, do folks just sit with their eyes glued to the windows to catch dogs pooping? I wouldn't even know if a dog pooped in my yard nor would I care as long as it was pick up. Good grief, go enjoy your lives and stop worrying about poop.

Not exactly. Have you looked at your property plat drawing? On my plat, the front lot line is located about 10 feet back from the edge of the street pavement. The space between the front lot line and the street are not part of my property, although I am required to maintain it. But, someone who walks in that space is not trespassing.

pvetrano1 10-03-2022 06:20 AM

What's the big deal, as long as they pick it up ?

Time to relax and maybe be concerned about something that may be a bit more important.

Meh - most of us here wont be alive in 30 years. We do see dogs crapping in our yards today.

flower7330@gmail.com 10-03-2022 06:59 AM

Exactly.

Laker14 10-03-2022 06:59 AM

Since I seldom eat directly off of my lawn, I am not too worried about some dog pee or poop along the edge of the lawn. 90% of the dogs in TV are tiny, and 99% of the dog owners I see at least try to clean up the poop.
A brown spot in the grass? Oh my.

Bay Kid 10-03-2022 07:02 AM

Glad they pickup their dog poop. Problem is you can't get it all. Watch where you walk barefoot in your yard.

gighilton 10-03-2022 07:05 AM

Have you ever trained to your dog to POOP on verbal command...would be a very smart dog. Its just one of those things...

I guess you're just better at training your pets than than just about everyone else in the world...

According to these subject posts, you are probably right....I must be. Perhaps some folks that do not understand how to care for their pets ought to be trained before obtaining a furry friend. In my opinion, if you can house break a dog, then you can dictate where he may unburden itself. My intention was not to insult anyone, just to make them aware that there is more to "sharing" a community than forcing others to accept one's intrusive transgressing and property damages, even if only minute in nature. Perhaps if a pet own is not confident in controlling their animal then they should consider allowing it to live in a better home, where the owner is better equipped to care for the little friend. Is it too difficult to learn to properly handle a pet, or is it just that the owner is too lazy to take a few minutes to learn? It's really not that difficult, unless you have a difficult pet. Kind of like raising children. Either you care for them properly or they remain undisciplined. I don't even consider it "tough love" to train the pet properly. Sorry, just my experienced opinion on the subject.

Yes, of course. I noticed that I have less brown spots on my lawn then I did before implementing a new tactic. When someone leaves a bit of missed excrement on my lawn, I simply leave it by their door so that they can dispose of it at their convenience. I love animals, but since I spend a substantial amount of money on my lawn to keep it looking nice, I prefer that owners of pets take their little critters elsewhere to do their business. I know they understand because they do not allow them to do their business in their own yards.

jparsoneau@aol.com 10-03-2022 07:21 AM

For all you put haters out there you should probably start your own club. since you like to tell the pet owners how to take care of their pets.

agjaret@aol.com 10-03-2022 07:29 AM

To poop or not

As a dog owner it is difficult in the villages to walk dogs anywhere but lawns. I keep my pups to the edges. There is a part of the lawn which belongs to the villages from the curb to your home. An easement which varies in feet depending on house size.

sborlove 10-03-2022 07:31 AM

You evidently are a better dog trainer than we are. Unfortunately our dog and most others poop when needed and are driven by sent to poop where they do. A well trained animal will poop where trained but our little pooch has trained us instead. Our apologies but we DO pick up and dispose of properly.

Two Bills 10-03-2022 07:37 AM

Why is someone a "Pet Hater" just because they dislike other peoples dogs peeing and pooping on their premises.
In that context you could say all the people without a little white cross in their gardens are God haters

The easement is not for you. Unless you’re a utilities worker, you’re trespassing.

airstreamingypsy 10-03-2022 07:54 AM

"Setting them up to poop on my lawn" LOL I've had many dogs and never heard of setting them up. Dogs are much like people, they poop when the need arises.... they don't hold it til their owner tells them to poop here. As long as they pick up after the dog, I couldn't care less.

I AM a pet owner, but I doubt if I would entertain an idea of a special club for folks that care about their lawns and believe in common courtesy of pet owners. Perhaps more folks should listen to their neighbors regarding "personal space" in conjunction with one's property. If I left my car doors unlocked, would that give a person the "RIGHT" to sleep in my car? Would that make me a "good neighbor?" By the way, having an animal that doesn't know better does not make the owner stupid and given a free pass for NOT knowing better. Be a good neighbor and keep your animals off your neighbor's grass. Feel insulted? Life's a bit*** and then we die, is a saying that might be quoted on both sides of the discussion.
By the way, in all the decades I have owned pets, none of them have ever defecated on anyone's private property. I have too much respect for my neighbors to allow such an infraction. If you believe your animal is too STUPID to learn, then I think you are not giving them credit they are due.

On my plat, it is not called an easement. It is referred to as a "right of way", and it doesn't say anything about who can use it. I think that trespassing is when you are actually on someone else's property.
