We don’t live there anymore but I really think pet owners are very polite & pick up after their pet. One time in 8 yrs. I noticed poop in my yard. The next day it was gone. So I don’t understand your complaint!

You miss the point entirely. Picking up is good but never completely gets it all. The scent remains and draws others. The point is someone entered your property and used it ( not just used it. Dumped sewage on it) without your permission and without giving you the opportunity to refuse. That is utterly disrespectful best. What if they use your car without asking? Your property, is that okay with you?

I agree with you completely. We don’t have a dog at this point and I would never let my dog dirty someone else’s lawn. We are in a new neighborhood and apparently this is acceptable in The Villages.

that's an excellent point-it's the scent that attracts the other dogs. both pee & poop

Let's understand when they are trespassing. Check your plot diagram. In most yards, the front property line ends approximately 12-13 feet from the curb. You do not own the area from that line to the curb. Thus, if they encroach on that area, by law, they are not trespassing.

that’s called a building envelope you have one on the side and back of your home (easements) guess you think I can walk a dog on the side of your house

You are wrong on that fact. The “easements” that are marked on your plat map are for the utilities companies to have access to that part of YOUR PROPERTY to do maintenance and service on their underground lines and equipment. It is limited and specific and does not in any way imply that this part of the property does not belong to the homeowner. You need to familiarize yourself with easement rights. It does not extend to the general public, it is not owned by The Villages. If you take your dog onto any part of your neighbors yard to do it’s business you are trespassing.

It is my understanding that the "lot line" defines where your property starts. My front lot line is located about 10 feet from the street pavement. That 10 foot strip between the lot line and the pavement is called a right of way, not an easement. I don't believe that I own the right of way strip of land because it is outside of my lot line.

Note, that an easement is different from a right of way. The deed restriction document describes easements for utility companies, such as electric, water, and cable TV. Many of these utilities are not located on the right of way, but they are actually located on the homeowner's property. I have several cable TV cables and junction boxes that are on my property, but not on the right of way because they are inside the lot line. According to the deed restrictions, these utility companies have the right to enter my property to maintain their utilities. There are no easements marked on my property plat.

Yes, we have such contempt for our new neighbors who, when they first met our dog, she proceeded to victimize them and "drop a deuce" just over the property line on their lawn...

We apologized, and immediately cleaned it up, and they said, "Don't worry about it, it's what dogs do. Thanks for picking up after your dog..."

I've never felt such contempt from someone in my life!

Oh, wait... When we get invited over for drinks, they always tell us to "Bring Maggie!", who will immediately hop up in the gentleman's lap. He sits there with a big grin, as she falls asleep, having her belly scratched... The horror of it all...

And those other neighbors, who don't even own dogs, but carry treats for those walking their dogs past their homes.. How dare we let our dog go say hello that those victims! That's trespassing!

Yes, it's completely the same thing... Said no one ever...

Prezactly! I have no respect for those who do not clean up after their pets.

From what I've seen, the vast majority do just that. They will carry poop bags and use them. Will SOME people be jerks? Most certainly. Several have proven that theory on this thread...

But just wait... Those who insist they didn't get every single microscopic particle and that will cause them to get some disease when they walk all over their lawn barefoot will be along shortly... Never mind that they water their lawn with pond water that has who knows what chemicals in it...

She needs to walk in order to poo. So we walk!! If that really bothers, then there are communities that are pet free. Maybe that would be better for those who find this to be a big problem. I couldn’t image spending my day watching to see if dogs are on my lawn. I think there are lots of other more fun things to do in TV.

Now you've done it... "Baby Girl"? Prepare to be mocked and accused of having emotional problems for comparing an ANIMAL to a "baby girl"...

Yes, it's happened many times on these threads...

We are currently renting a home in TV and are looking to buy at some point. One thing that we have noticed is folks walking by with their dogs and setting them up to poop on our lawn and then cleaning it up.
We are not dog haters and have recently lost our dog.
Why can't folks have the dog poop on their own lawn and then go for walk.
We had a poop place in our backyard for our dog to poop.
I'd love to hear other people's thoughts on this.

I wonder if it has something to do with most folks not having a fenced backyard to allow their dogs out, so they must walk them? Any responsible owner will of course pick up.

In my opinion, if you can house break a dog, then you can dictate where he may unburden itself. My intention was not to insult anyone, just to make them aware that there is more to "sharing" a community than forcing others to accept one's intrusive transgressing and property damages, even if only minute in nature. Perhaps if a pet own is not confident in controlling their animal then they should consider allowing it to live in a better home, where the owner is better equipped to care for the little friend. Is it too difficult to learn to properly handle a pet, or is it just that the owner is too lazy to take a few minutes to learn? It's really not that difficult, unless you have a difficult pet. Kind of like raising children. Either you care for them properly or they remain undisciplined. I don't even consider it "tough love" to train the pet properly. Sorry, just my experienced opinion on the subject.
