Default Dogs and Retirement

While I do understand the companionship- Whats the deal with seniors and dogs (many with more than 2) walking through the neighbor hoods, taking them to the farmers market (so many it looks like a dog show) Riding them around on a golf car like a small hairy child. (what part of the brain is missing to condone this behavior?)

When I was in the fox hole , I never thought oh lord if I get thru this nightmare and they remove the shrapnel I'd love to pick up dog excrement in a clear plastic bag off my neighbors lawn (even tho we have a ton of dog parks for this event or better yet the dog lovers own lawn) then carry it though the neighbor hood like a bag of truffles on award night.

Speaking of truffles in bags. Happy Halloween (or fall festival) if you're opposed to Halloween for some reason)

I'm a survivor.

I witnessed people walking a dog from a golf cart. (they ride super slow and the tiniest dog runs full throttle to catch up) nightly occurrence.

I witnessed a lady (who I think was featured on my 600 lb life) wobble behind a tiny dog.

Both examples cannot pick up after the pet and do it in the cover of darkness. Why do they torture themselves? Doesn't the handicap or disability take enough we want to add this extra layer?

Enjoy.

Welcome to TOTV and TV...

I could explain it to you, but it's obvious I can't understand it for you...

Reality, you can talk to people about such topics as their car, their home, their lawn, their spouse etc. If you want REAL hostility mention their dog. For me, I don't have a dog. It is far easier to spoil other people's dogs and leave them with the problems. Reincarnation, if it is so I want to come back as a villagers dog. You will know it is me because I demand an afternoon nap. Those costumes-forget about it. Oh and please let me not be one of those tiny dogs. I got to be at least big enough to drive a golf cart.

I'm stealing this quote from Bill Murray, but I wholeheartedly agree. "I'm suspicious of people who don't like dogs, but I trust when dogs don't like people".

So you joined TOTV this month just to troll people about dogs? Fair enough. Between 1 and 4 percent of people are sociopaths. Pretty sure dogs have that figured out. Probably walking around exuding a pheromone that smells to dogs like corruption and fear, looking akin to Pig pen of Peanuts fame to a dog's nose. A walking cloud of insecurity, hatred, confusion and insanity.

You know, they say if you lock your wife and your dog in the trunk and drive down a bumpy road for a few hours, only one is happy to see you when you open it up. I'd ask if you have any experience with that but you've probably never done it with a dog.

Wow... you are so not an animal person, not everyone is. Fur babies are more than companionship. No sense on going into the whys, you will never understand. The Greatest Gift of Love from God and more.

John , we could be friends... I love Dogs but unfortunately I have developed a medical allergy to them in my older years. I do wonder what go thru a dog owners mind when they bend over to pick up the excrement with those arthritic vertebrae and feel that squish. Praying and hoping that the thin plastic bag that separates them from a horrible aftermath, with no backup plan other than wiping their hand on the beautiful blades of Gods green earth..dogs must be something very special

I would take your quote, “what part of the brain is missing to condone this behavior”, and flip it back at you. What part of the brain is missing for those who dislike dogs? Their loyalty and unwavering commitment to their owners is second to nothing. There is only one thing about being a dog owner that is less than ideal, it can be very complicated and difficult to travel. Otherwise they are absolutely great.
