Default Does anyone make Speciality Cakes ??

Last week we attended a Military retirement in Norfolk Va and they had a beautiful sheet cake designed with an american flag and military insignia as part of the icing on the cake....very unique and well done!!

This obviously was not a "big store" cake and with the season quickly approaching there will be a large number of "party events" planned for here in the Villages. I was wondering if anyone prepares or knows of someone (at home or a local shop) who makes Speciality Cakes for different events. In the next 2 months, people in our neighborhood and others I know have parties planned for a 50th wedding anniversary, Xmas/New Years Part(ies), a birthday, and believe it or not an end of year retirement.

Looking for something differnet !!

Publix has a book you can look through to choose. I like their whipped cream frosting.

I would at least check Walmart bakery. A few years ago we purchased a wedding cake with sea shells, etc. when we lived at the beach. It was beautiful and tasty, and was about $170. Local bakeries wanted between $500-$600 for the same type of cake. It's just a thought, and wouldn't take much effort to check out. I'm sure many posters will suggest a local bakery or two that can do a fine job also.

Default Emily's 407-973-2009

We had an event last night and used Emily's for a post wedding reception cake. It was exactly what I was looking for, simple, elegant and of course delicious. I have seen other cakes of hers that were much more creative, sand castles, edible flowers and a killer carrot cake. I'll try to post the picture of last nights cakes and see if I came get anymore information or pictures. Her phone number is 407-973-2009. She delivered the cakes right to the venue.

If you have a picture that would help and any other information such as what ingredients she used your cake and type of icing/frosting etc. I assume cost would be dependent upon the type and size of cake you wanted. Is she local???

I am having a hard time getting the pictures to post but will work on it tomorrow. She is in weirsdale and delivered the cakes here to The Villages. . I had a very simple one done and it was extremly moist and a very nice light not too sweet icing. I have had her other cakes before and in her carrot cake she used a grape seed oil vs the vegetable oil. I'm not a baker but as a taster I could really tell the differenace, moist but not oily. I think the invoice has more information about her and a link that may have pictures if I can not get mine to load i'lol see if I can find out more for you.
