The real Michael McDonald & the Doobie Brothers (with Pat Simmons) played here in NH last night.

Tickets started at $35. Why on earth would anyone bother to go listen to a bunch of amateurs, pretending they were the real thing?

Because Michael McDonald & Th Doobie Bros (with Pat Simmons) were in NH, and not in The Villages?

And it they're getting paid on a regular basis, they're not amateurs...

I enjoyed the doobies in 70s and some with Michael Mc. In the 2020s not so much at all. IMO

Because it was free? Because it was a 15 min golf cart ride away? Because it was better than staying home?

I like to experience live cover bands, especially when they can imitate the real thing. Saw an AC-DC cover 10 years ago in Vegas. The lead singer looked a little like Bon Scott; lanky white dude, dark shoulder length frizzy hair, wore the sleeveless jeans jacket, and he also sounded close enough to him. They did the whole Back in Black Album using a Bon Scott sound-alike voice. Even though I like Brian Johnson a lot, was very very cool. The lead guitar didn't look like Angus, but he played close enough for me.

So yeah, it was entertaining for free and that's what I signed up for.

one person's opinion.

Mine is that many of the tribute bands are pretty darn good.
A few are not, but so it goes. -peace-
