To answer the original question.. there is NOT a no soliciting rule in the villages thus there is no reason to call anyone. Sumter county requires that companies soliciting business get a permit. However, if the reason they approach you is not a sales pitch, no permit is required.

Thus roof companies are not selling roofs, they are offering free roof inspections. Water companies are not selling purifiers, they are offering free water tests...

The streets in the CYV are private and not county owned. Thus soliciting is not allowed in CYV.

Some time back (not in TV) a guy knocked. When I answered he said that he represented (blank) Home Security Systems and that I had been selected to receive and have installed their top home security system (or some such line) at a 50% discount. Only kicker was that it had to done TODAY.

I looked at him for a time and said slowly, "I have security. .38 caliber security. My wife, too".

He spun around and left in a big hurry.

Any sane person would back away and leave quickly in that situation. Responsible gun owners don’t advertise that they have weapons. By the way before you bash me as a liberal none 2A supporter, realize I am a lifetime NRA member and former firearms safety instructor.

Ah, you deflated his big macho post.

Contrary to the above, our restrictions do pretend to control peddling i.e. "2.22 The Developer reserves the right to prohibit or control peddling, soliciting, selling, delivery and vehicular traffic within the Subdivision."

However, when I first called due to solicitors, I was told that they could not control since the roads were now maintained by Sumter County. I would presume that would mean that they cannot control parking on the roads or traffic on the roads. So perhaps you can park your 63 foot trailer on the rod if Sumter county does not object.

But don't you dare put a No Solicitor sign outside of your house per the restrictions.

I am not Anti Villages, but would guess that may restrictive covenants could be unenforceable.

We recently had our driveway texture painted and the guy who did it must have handed out 5 cards to people walking by.
This makes me very suspicious of anyone who needs to knock on a door to get customers. Anyone around here who is any good is busy without going door-to-door.
