Default Phonebooks

now we have 2 Villages phonebooks! We got one a few weeks ago and another one with a different cover yesterday. Do we have competing phone book publishers in The Villages? I think we'll get another one soon that is published by the Tri County press that includes Ocala and Sumter.

Look at the up side to all the phone books .... they give people jobs. Those who sell the advertising, make the books, delivery people and finally the trash workers.

And small grandkids can sit on top of them at the dinner table.

put them above the kitchen cupboards and set your "decorative stuff " on them... it raises the "stuff" and l think it makes it look better ...

Originally, there was one Villages phone book. TV farmed it out to a company from, I believe Orlando. Then, with their usual finesse, TV decided to publish the book themselves. No warning to the other company. So, the other company keeps plugging along and putting out the books. I have no clue how they manage to keep it up to date, but ..... So, two Villages phone books, one from Marion County/Ocala and at least one from Lake County. Sometimes one for the Tri-County area.

One suggestion. If you're going to use old books on the kitchen cabinets, fully wrap them in plastic wrap. Remember, bugs, especially roaches, like glue and paper.

Even better is to opt out and not even receive these books. Just go to yellowpagesoptout.com. It takes about two minutes to set up an account. I haven't gotten these books in years. It lists all the phone books issued by DEX and you can opt out of one or all. This website does not list the phone book printed by The Villages, so you will still get that one.

The book I received today also has a "Street Cross Reference" section which in the past has come in very handy.

You put the old one in the TRASH and NOT at postal stations. They don't recycle them anymore

I recycled the "NEW" one. They did not have me listed! I also noticed that in the front there was a "Senior contacts" section starting with AARP and no mention of AMAC.

Trash it, the numbers in it aren't accurate. 10 years ago, i changed my phone number from what was in there, i went to the proper channels to correct it, not just once, but for the next 3 years, i gave up, they don't care, its for advertising dollars mainly.

if your number is accurate the sales calls will keep on coming, you were probably were better off with the wrong number!

there are multiple phone providers here, one book we get is from centurylink.
