Default Dropped Calls in Pine Hills

Just moved into Pine Hills 4 months ago and can not use our cell phones in house without interference or dropped calls. Anyone else experience this and how did you solve it? We have iphone 5's. Will upgrading the phones help? Has anyone tried a repeater? Did it help?

It might depend which company you have your service with as some have more towers in TV than others. Its obvious that wireless companies have not kept up with the rapid expansion of The Villages.

It will help if you identify which cell phone carrier you have.

Hi Carol, try turning on WiFi assist on you phone. Settings>cellular> scroll to bottom and make sure it's turned on. Regardless of any feedback here on TOTV, it will improve you voice calls if your connected to wifi.

Check the signal strength inside and out side. I see 2 bars out side and one inside in some locations. I that case inside calling is a problem. Other locations are stronger and fewer problems. I would contact your carrier. The WiFi might be a solution if you have it. I know in some cases the carrier will provide a signal booster for your home. There may not be a universal best solution.

We've been here a year now and gave up long ago on using our cell phones in the house. We broke down and got a landline after trying every suggestion we given to rectify the situation. One thing I've heard and I tend to think it's true...the new homes were built with heat barriers in the ceilings as another poster mentioned and it blocks the signals unfortunately.

Radiant barrier in the attic. New building code when we built in July 2015. AT&T recommends a micro cell if you have something older than a iphone 6. Worked great until we got our iphone 6's and now just use them in wifi mode.

Default Micro cell worked for us

We had the same issue which I believe is caused by the ceiling barrier. We have ATT but I have talked to others who have Verison and Sprint and the had the same problem. I contacted ATT and explained the issue and they sent me a micro cell which I was directed to connect with my WiFi. The problem was resolved. I now get five "bars" when I use to get none! I would contact your cell provider.

We have IPhone 5s with AT&T and we use a microcell paired with our home network here in Sanibel. We haggled with AT&T over getting the microcell for free. They would not give us one even though we were not getting calls or calls were dropped. They did offer to waive half the cost and we had to pay the other half. Works great unless your internet goes down. All in all we are very satisfied with the microcell. Also, we do not have the radiant barrier in our attic. Hope this helps.

Is that a new cell tower 1/2 mile down Racetrack Rd on the left?

We have a Booster from Verizon that helps inside the house but is still not perfect. We do not live where you are. We are way up north in The Historical Section. Your problem and our problem are small compared to what is going to happen in the newest areas being built. Our phones wouldn't call or text from down there. UT Oh!

We have the same problem in LaBelle but my neighbor did not- reason he has a brand new phone. So my wife bought a new iPhone 7 and guess what, she can call from every room in the house now.
